    Calzaghes best oponent was ?

Calzaghes best oponent was ? there seems to be a school of thought that Hopkins was his best oponent but was Hopkins just the best name on his record was Eubank at 28 a more difficult proposition than a 43 year old man was Kessler or Lacy more of a threat to Joe than Hopkins was at 43

who is the best oponent he has faced factoring the form/age they were in when he faced them

    i say Kessler

come on man. get real. even at 43 b-hops in another class than kessler. in the words of the man...

"kessler ain't in my league man" just look at the results of the fight. one guy arguably won and scored a knockdown and crushing right hand counters, one guy had a few good rounds and then was clueless when calzaghe adapted only to be exposed as one dimensional. a tatted up robot with a predictable 1-2 euro box style.

Bernard Hopkins was a tough opponent, and he made the fight closer than Kessler did, but it wasn't the kind of close where he ever put Joe in any trouble or threatened to beat him based outright on what he did in the ring.

Kessler gave Calzaghe more actual trouble in an offensive sense, even if the cards at the end weren't as close.

I think Chris Eubank deserves a mention too, because it was one of Joe's toughest most competitive fights and I suspect that for the twenty-five year old Joe that Eubank was an even tougher opponent than either Kessler or Hopkins was later.

yes but styles make fights i dare say there are a few fighters out there that Kessler is capable of beating just based on workrate alone that Hopkins is'nt capable of beating

dont forget Hopkins lost his titles cause he could not match Taylors punch output round for round and there were'nt that many punches in either fight

in the Tarver fight he dropped lucky as Tarver was weight drained and he did not have to work hard to beat Tarver cause Tarver threw like 5 punches in the whole 12 rounds
