I don't think this has anything to do with race. HBO is an entertainment network. They're primary concern is viewership and revenue. For that, they need exciting fights. Those guys definitely love fighters that will take a punch to land a punch. So it has nothing to do with race, only entertainment. HBO always acknowledges Mayweather's superior skills.

    Mayweather and Wright are idiots.

When Kelly Pavlik Fights, YOU do not GET THE FEELING THAT THEY WANT TO SEE Kelly Pavlik LOSE...

and more recently When Miguel Cotto Fights, YOU do not GET THE FEELING THAT THEY WANT TO SEE Miguel Cotto LOSE...

and the most obvious in the Mayweather-Hatton Fight,
YOU do not GET THE FEELING THAT THEY WANT TO SEE Hatton LOSE...

But you did get the Feeking that they wanted Mayweather to LOSE...

      another example:

In the Jermaine Taylor fight against Kelly Pavlik
all you heard throughout the Fight was, What Jermaine Taylor was going to do wrong, and what he is doing wrong, and vice vesa What Kelly Pavlik was going to do right and what he was doing right....

and Once Again YOU do not GET THE FEELING THAT THEY WANT TO SEE Kelly Pavlik LOSE...

Why Does The Perception exist with these fighters..??

Thats the Problem Mayweather Has with them...

IT SEEMS LIKE THEY WANT TO SEE HIM and certain fighters LOSE...

AND IF YOU ARE A FAIR MINDED COMMENTATOR THAT PERCEPTION SHOULD NOT EXIST...

BUT WITH THE HBO CREW IT DOES...

YOU GET THE FEELING THAT THEY WANT TO SEE MAYWEATHERand certain fighters LOSE...

They are Paid to be FAIR COMMENTATOR'S, not AVID FANS.... SO any bias they have against certain fighters should be set aside as soon as they start calling the fight
I noticed these things to.....good post!

Winky is just the first of many black fighters to FINALLY stand up....expect more comments like this from other black fighters in the near future. Some people might agree and some might not, with that said...A wise man once said..OPINIONS are like *******S..everybody has one and they all STINK!

Guy has fought on HBO and made some big payday, now he's going to play the race card.
It's Stinky Wright to you, Whiney Wright to me. He actually got paid about 4 million for that ridiculous fight with Quartey. He should shut the **** up.

Winky and Floyd, no matter how good, are/were dull as **** to watch, especially with the general public. No wonder HBO et al lacked enthusiasm when covering those two guys. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

its not a matter of black and white its a matter of warrior and coward and hbo is starting to get smart and not give credit to cowardly fighters like wright and mayweather. it doesnt surprise me the two men who would duck margarito for career high paydays would agree about this.

winky's just pissed because he can't get a fight. because he isn't an exciting fighter.

it's 2008- seriously- does anybody else agree with me here? the race card **** is about as tired as anything i can think of. i know its boxing and i know nationalism plays a big part in hyping fights.

but you would be hard pressed to explain to me how boxing is a sport dominated by one race or another- from an athletic or a business standpoint.

Winky can get a fight, just not one that he is overpaid for like he has in the past. He has entitlement issues and doesn't recognize his true market value right now.

When he was still active, does HBO wants Mike Tyson to lose? I don't think so.

The reason they dont praise Floyd is cause he's a b!tch who loves to duck fights, where DeLaHoya has fought everyone is his prime. Floyd will never get his full respect until he FINISHES his career! White, Black, Brown or Yellow, doesn't matter.
Well that's news to me... here we got an expert *laugh* Jim Lampley called Hagler, Hearns and Sugar Ray fights??? WOW... yes probably one of the last fights of Sugar Ray...

To call them racist is not right. But ppl still can't see what he's really saying. Which is true... he's unappreciated... do you think that a Gatti, or a JCC for example would have fought like they fought, if they would have had the ability like a Mayweather. They simple don''t had the ability and had to make up for it.

Again the Margarito thing... I know some ppl hate to hear it... at first) Margarito boxingwise is a nobody. He lost against nobody's. Clottey was handing him his ass, until he broke his hand. Williams beat him... the only one he beat who has some merrit is Cintron. Second of all... I told you before why he took Baldo... and if you would get the hate out of your soul, you would do it too...

Baldomir= Linear WW Champion, PPV fight, 8,000,001$ + PPV and a fighter that everybody would call a bum afterwards...

Margarito=Alphabet Champ, no PPV, 8,000,000 + 0, and a fighter that everybody would call a bum afterwards... it's so simple, still don't know why you ppl don't get it.

Yeah, this Mexican is a good example. Mexican ppl have an other understanding of boxing. They like to see blood. Well... maybe you should stop watching boxing. Boxing is an art... what you are looking for where some centuries before us. I mean... the beatings they take is all nice... but I guess it's not so nice, if you been mentally ******ed with 35, probably can't eat without help, because you were so much of a man and let yourself get beat up. The boxing ring is not the place to be a man. It's an profession... in life you should be a real man... stand up for your family etc. in the ring... you should know your profession. And as hard as it is... if you get beat up every fight, bloodied etc. then your doing something wrong about your profession, that includes a lot of mexican fighters. But hey, I enjoy their fights too... but still... that's not what I expect of a ''boxing'' match...

Again don't hate ppl who have real skills. And a real skill to me is not get my ass beat up. I can step into the ring with Cotto too and can get my ass beat up. The true skill is... to not get harmed by a man who is trained to hurt you with a single punch... but hey... I guess... that's too high for some folks here
