          • So what you're saying is that because you're paying your money, a fighter should always stand toe to toe and trade.
No. But when their opponent is visibly out of their depth, has absolutely no chance of winning rounds and doesn't even have a punchers chance the winning fighter has a duty to his fans to press the issue and try for the big finish. Floyd could and should have been the guy to stop Baldomir but he chose to spend the entire fight refusing to engage and cruising to the decision.

Also, I box and no fan is going to dictate to me how I should box. They're not the ones waking up in the morning running, they're not the ones thats going to cover my medical bills if I'm injured.
The irony is that if you're a professional the fans do pay for your medical bills. Who else does? Your cutman? Your trainer? Your promoter? No, the guys who buy the tickets and the PPVs that contribute towards your purse for the fight, they pay your wages and from that you pay your medical bills.

Unreal, Roy Jones got his ass ****** more then any fighter in history on that network...... The only guy I ever saw not getting the respect he deserved was B-Hop.
B-Hop spent every interview complaining about how he doesn't get enough respect and accusing the HBO crew of bias. Notice a pattern emerging?

Nice throw in my friend... but I have to correct you. As he told Margarito that he's going to make him a millionaire was after the Judah fight. And yes they offered him 8 million dollars. But then somebody came up with Baldomir... and he took Baldo... and yes he got 8 million and 1 dollar for fight.
Floyd and Leonard Ellerbe made the $8,000,001 comment, I remember it being made. It just seems bogus to me, an unnecessary "**** you" to Margarito in an attempt to get back at Bob Arum. Maybe Floyd did get paid $8 mil plus a dollar. If he did it was a petty bit of bitchiness to ask for the extra dollar. If he got paid four mil against Baldomir it was still a more worthwhile undertaking because it would set up bigger paydays down the road. It did, in fact, setting up Mayweather's two biggest purses.

I think it is bull**** that he got paid eight million and one, and if it isn't bull**** it's still pretty pathetic, an indicator of Floyd's mentality and a symptom of the reason why HBO don't like him!

tiger woods gets paid because he's the best and most skilled, not because golf ratings go up when tiger is playing in said tournament on TV.
Golf is very different to boxing. Golf prizes are substantial and are based on position in the tour rankings. If you wanted a suitable anology to boxing women's tennis is a better fit: Anna Kournikova is not even close to being the best tennis player in the world but she was relatively highly paid because she had other... assets.

Pay in boxing is linked to drawing power and not to rank. Which given the pervasive influence of sponsorship deals in every other sport makes it not so far removed from everything else.

Is Shaq the best basketball player?

PBF has that option to wanna feel that way now, he has that right. He is the true definition of why America is so ****ed up beyond belief. A rich, never work another day in my life, BLACK man, standing up and trying to become the Sharpton of the boxing world. This is by far the biggest disgrace in boxing I have ever witnessed. Because the attention isnt on him anymore and doesnt like who it indeed is on, he feels the need to berate Manny. THEN, he feels the need to play the only card he has left, the race card. **** you Floyd and **** you Winky. You two need to grow up and realize this isn't the cotton picking days and get with the God damn program. You two made MILLIONS upon MILLIONS and now all of a sudden wanna go back and try to feel cheated. Well I sirs, as a fan of boxing, wanna say **** YOU. **** you and everyone who thinks like you. The sport of boxing doesn't need you and GL next time you wanna sell me a $59.99 fight.
So I take it you won't be voting for *****? lol

              • Well I'm pretty disappointed in Wright.

It's not the HBO announcers who want to face first action, they are just pandering to the general boxing crowd. Everyone on this board should know that the majority of people do like to see wards over tactical, cautious matches. I personally enjoy both, and my favorite matches are the high powered tactical "wars", such as Morales-Pacquiao I.

Wright isn't dumb (from what I have seen). I can't imagine that he actually thinks it is because he is black... really, it is just more pleasing to most boxing fans to watch a brawl than a defensive masterpiece... just the world we live in.

                • bottom line is that if u hate Mayweather 4 his attitude ur a fool...if ur a real boxing fan u would only speak the facts. Mayweather very well might b the greatest but cuz his attitude people dont know so...if he wuz 2 act like a ***** & kiss ass like oscar would u like him then? Mayweather has no personal relation with u so there is NO need 2 HATE.
I really think you ought to avoid using txt spk if you're throwing around jibes like "fool".

                    • If HBO was so biased against Black fighters, why are 4 of the 11 featured fighters Black, one of whom is Floyd Mayweather Jr.?
