Margarito is a one dimensional brawler. He was decisioned by Paul Williams and has only looked impressive against weak competition, i.e. Golden Johnson, Manuel Gomez, etc etc.

If he beats Miguel Cotto, than Miguel Cotto was overrated.

If Miguel Cotto wins, I dont want to see all these people talking about him being #1 p4p and how Floyd is scared of him and how he is one of the GOAT's at welterweight, because it's not true.

Cotto's oppositon has been carefully selected, e****ially after the Torres fight.

Tony is big, has alot of heart, a great chin, and pretty decent power.
That being said, he would get outboxed by any true and legitimate welterweighgt contender.

I am saying here and now, regardless of what happens on June 26th, that Marg is one dimensional, albeit with heart and chin, and if Cotto loses he will be one of the most overrated prospects of the last 10 years.

I agree on all points. I watched Margarito-Clottey again and decided that Margarito is truly a very average fighter at best. Without a chin and the ability to fight at 147, this guy is nothing. A complete nobody. Clottey was completely thrashing him for four rounds before breaking his hands from hitting Margarito's iron dome so much. Margarito sucks.

And if Cotto loses, I definitely think Cotto was overrated.

No elite fighter should ever lose to Margarito.

gotta love them PBF stans. Floyd gets incredible credit for beating a journeyman with 9 losses just because the journeyman had "the belt" so that trumped the fact that he hadnt beaten anyone of any worth except zab and.....................had 9 losses. floyd stans are easily, hands down the most biased and unobjective fans in boxing. floyd can do no wrong in their eyes, but every other boxer does. cong****.

Nobody ever called beating Baldomir a great win. If they did, they should be ashamed. No reasonable boxing fan gave Baldomir a chance in hell of winning 3 rounds.

But it was the right fight to make since everyone kept saying Floyd wasn't the champ til he beat the champ. So he went and beat the champ.

This thread is a cop out for floyd fans to not give other fighters credit. Say margarito is overrated and no matter what happens you can discredit both fighters. I believe cotto will win and then people like you will say margo was overrated just like you guys said shane would take cotto to school and then after the fight he was too old.

He has more losses than that. While i think it will be a good win for Cotto, after seeing Maragrito fighting a couple times I too think Margarito will lose convincingly. Cotto has more technic, movements and skill than Margarito.

I agree, I expect Cotto to win a UD, but all that is going to do is show that Margarito is a one dimensional fighter who is easily defeated by a fighter with good boxing ability.

That is true.
What I am really referring to is the general opinion of Miguel Cotto after the fight, and many fans taking the irrational standpoint that he is a world beater.

Marg has 5 losses, and lost to Daniel Santos and Paul Williams.
This needs to be kept in mind when evaluating the fight results.

I agree with this statement.

Of course he would deserve credit for a win against a hard nosed brawler with chin and heart, but I dont want people getting wrapped up in a potential victory against Margarito, because he is one dimensional.

I understand you love Miguel Cotto and he can do no wrong in your eyes, but at the same time Tony Margarito is a gatekeeper between good and great fighters.
Any great fighter should be able to beat him.
THere is a good chance he will beat most good fighters.
