i'm not saying we shouldn't have our own country. it's easy for us to say we're living comfortable in the u.s.

it's an interesting question. would losing our identity as a nation be worth a better life for our people? it's tough if you think about it objectively.

the filipinos who fought and died for us was fighting oppression. would the u.s. really oppress us? we're not talking about the indians era here we're talking about the 20th/21st century. how badly are the hawaiians being oppressed by the u.s.?

Its not blasphemy. Face it. Filipinos have never in our history been united. We dont like each other. If we were united in the beginning we would have never been conquered and thousands of lives saved.

Keep in mind the time frame was between 1895 - 1910

And the US was a country that was segregated until the late 60s. It still also harbors bitterness over the civil rights movement to this day in the southern states

Also, it is common knowledge that Philippines was about to defeat the Spaniards WITHOUT American aid... Our leaders had no clue that America was going to backstabb us and annex PI as its own colony..

Matter of fact, when asked about the Philippine independence, President Mckinley did not believe Filipinos "smart" enough to govern themselves and sent 20,000 marines to convince us of his apparent wisdom which ultimately led to the subsequent death of upwards of a million Filipinos... That was about 1/8th of the total population lost...
