    Truce with Calzaghe fans

I admit: Joe Calzaghe is an excellent fighter who dominated his division for more than a decade. He is clearly one of the greatest supper middleweights since the creation of the division and no supper middleweight's accomplishments match his. Joe Calzaghe is under no obligation to fight Kelly Pavlik.

Please admit: Joe Calzaghe has used his country and his weight division as a sheild to avoiding some of the tougher fights that could have been made. Wouldn't we all be in a better position to accurately judge Joe if his list of opponents looked like Glen Johnson's rather than his own. You'd rather watch Calzaghe/Pavlik than Calzaghe/Jones.

Well, what you say is true.

Roy turned down a fight with Joe, because Joe wasn't willing to go to US to fight him etc

But overall, all fighters have ups and downs we could critisize them for.

I agree, Joe could have had bigger fights.

The fact is, however, he was either injured or avoided.

The lack of big american names on his resume is down to them, not him.

I don't know about that... his resume could be better, but I've seen no substantial reports that indicate that it was his fault no bigger fights were made. The only one that could be blamed on him were recurring injuries that kept him out of the Johnson fight a few years back.

I don't see the "country" angle either. If the green was there, I'm sure he'd have travelled.

He made Roy an offer to fight over here, and Roy said come here and I will.

Joe said "OK then" and all of a sudden Roy wanted more money.

You can't fight someone who didn't want to fight you.

Prey do tell what "tougher" fighters he avoided.

Really? Is there proof of that, cause Roy don't seem like a guy to duck to me.

The guy won a heavyweight title, i don't see why he would duck Joe.

Yes, it is what it is.

But you can't criticise a man because nobody would fight him.

He fought everyone who was put in front of him, and he beat them all.
