The question is why do you guys care about it so much? You guys have followed his career and watched all his fights. You know how good he is and you believe in him as a fighter. Why should it matter so much what a bunch of 17 year olds on the internet think? I just think you get too worked up and defensive over some idiot saying "Calzaghe is **** and he slaps people". If people start criticising some of my favourites I just shrug it off and move on.

It seems like his people were protecting him from losing a decision to a home town hero here in the states. I don't think he was actually scared to fight anyone though. He did take on Lacy, and whooped him pretty good. I was surprised.

Of Calzaghe's opponents during this time Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell and Sheika were all ranked in the top ten by the Ring Magazine at one time or another, with Mitchell, Brewer and Sheika being the best America had to offer at the time, and Joe beat them all. When better competition did come along, in the form of Lacy (supposedly!) and Kessler, Joe fought them too, and unified the belts. Then, having nothing left to do at SMW he immediately moved to LHW and beat the Ring champ in that division. These type of accomplishments are not typically associated with being protected.
No doubt he was a very good fighter. I just don't agree with how "some" of his fans rate him, but we all have our opinions.

For me i like him, i like his tenacity, his fearlessness, speed, and his swagger in the ring. Beating Roy jones yes even a shot Roy Jones will go a long way to helping build is legacy. I just feel he needs one fight not sure who it would be but one fight where everyone even his own fans are in doubt whether he wins or not. It may be a little too late in his career for a fight like that but if he were to take on someone like pavlik, young hungry hard punch bigger than calzaghe and would most likely be stronger at that weight. Thats the type of fight where if he wins it would be impossible to deny his greatness
he also hasnt had the publicitiy some fighters have throughout there career until only recently. it took him a long time to make a name for himself yet his accomplishments are greater than ricky hatton who is a god over here.

Its easy to say that his haters, usually Americans are biased because of nationality, but that doesn't explain much really. Even if you are a little nationalistic you still must have an opinion as to why Calzaghe does not deserve your respect.

My theory is you all actually just don't think he's a very good boxer, so if I'm right, could some of you please enlighten me as to why you feel this way? If not, then please share you hate and enlighten me anyway.

            Thanks
I don't hate Calzaghe at all.

I just can't stand his fans. They're the flat out worst.

I love you too, but you must have been pissed off when he whipped your boy Lacy, no?

Fair point and I guess it can seem repetitive, but that's how the anti stuff is aswell so hey ho.

I challenge peoples views and debate topics for the same reason anyone discusses any topic. It's interesting to debate, it's cool to learn new things, or provide new info/insights to others. It's interesting learning peoples perspectives, reasons for thinking one thing. It's cool to see others alter theyre view based on info and debates. It's cool to change your own views on anything or anyone based on discussions. It's what it's all about.
