Yeah it was an amazing performance, nobody is discrediting that. But you need to take into account the opposition, and that opposition was David Diaz, the paper Champion of the Lightweight division.

Now if Pacquiao would have done what he did tonight to Joel Casamayor, or Nate Campbell, that'd be different, but he didn't.

Great performance, performed above expectations, looked as sharp as he ever has, did eveything he possibly could correctly.

But I don't think it's degrading to Pacquiao to mention facts, and the fact is that it was David Diaz, not Joel Casamayor or Nate Campbell.

thats not their job at all. they get no more money if u pay for the PPV or not. Dan Rafael ALWAYS tells it like it is. As do all experts, because its their job.

Obviously people will overract, but Manny put on a good preformance against a pretty good fighter.
I expected Manny to dominate and knock out Diaz, and was curious as to why he was facing Diaz in the first place.

I thought it would be a tougher fight but the speed disparity between Pacquiao and Diaz was huge.

Anyways, I agree with OP, we have to remember it was against David Diaz, who as it turned out had the style to make Pacquiao look great.

I do think Pacquiao was stronger than most of us expected though because Diaz is a strong lightweight and Pacquiao managed push him back at times.

Let's remember the opposition here, Diaz is a very limited guy with no much in terms of speed, movement, technique, or variables. All he ahd going was a slight edge in power and an advantage in size.

Diaz barely beat Erik Morales last year at a point in which Morales looked like rigormortis was setting in on his ass.
fair point, diaz is a decent fighter not some sort of great fighter but pac did look excellent tonight and should be praised for a great performance but maybe some are going a little bit overboard

Why even bother? Ricky is selective. He has a selective memory, selective hearing, and selective vision. You know that deep inside he is jealous that Calzaghe will never get this kind of attention, praise, and love. He also knows that any publications that had Calzaghe as #1 P4P are going to lower him in favor of Pacman after this performance.

Ricky is jealous, but it's okay, we still wish death on him.

I am not hyping up Diaz's skill or resume but he did KO Santa Cruz, who got robbed against Casamayor. David is also ranked #2 in the Ring mag. Pac is also going up in weight.

yea thats a good point. But there is so much to be excited about after that performance.

New p4p king. people thought Pac was slipping, well he isnt. And People wanted to know if he'd be competitive up there so that a Hatton-Pac fight could happen down the line at 140... well it can.

Lots to look forward to with manny pacquiao, and thats pretty amazing considering how long he has been around

Dan Rafael? The same guy who spoke about how terrible the decision was in the CHris John-Marquez bout before admitting two weeks later that he hadn't seen it?

                    Please.

Bottom line, it's still common sense. If you can barely squeeze by a shot Erik Morales, you're gonna get KTFO by Manny Pacquiao.

I might watch that for free but on pay-per-view?

As long as fans keep hyping **** like this up, you'll see more mismatches for $50. Enjoy.
