Basicely, Soto was confused by Cortez because he didn't know when to stop. If Cortez handled it better, there would have been no problems.

So to me, it's not that he called for a hit that didn't happen(it did), it's the fact that it's his fault that it happened the way it did.
Exactly! What the hell was the guy doing?

Soto was finishing Lorenzo off and then Cortez moves inbetween to break them up and there wasn't any holding or anything going on!

He must have gone to stop it and then decided not to at the last second, even though Lorenzo had already gone to his knees because he couldn't take the punches!

Yes, he did hit him when he was down, but, it was also during action and was not a delayed, deliberate attack, which would warrant a DQ. As Cortez himself said '(both men were told before the fight that this would result in a point loss or DQ)'. This particular offense was only worthy of a point loss as it was marred by Cortez' own bumbling and ******ity in separating the fighters constantly for no reason.

There has to be a judgement call made by referees in these cases and in this one it was about as terrible as you could ever possibly do. When the champ is about to win via KO and a small incident occurs that may warrant a point deduction and/or warning you do not disqualify him! I just couldn't believe it.
