Ask any rational Hatton fan and he will admit Ricky has gotten away with so many dirty tactics throughout his career it is laughable! Did you watch the Tsu fight?Even in the Lazcano fight Hatton just needed to look over to the ref and he would jump in and break the clinch up.Mayweather would beat Hatton in a phone booth while Floyd is calling his mother at the same time

Another poor performance.

Going from one extreme to the other when refereeing the Mayweather - Hatton and Calzaghe - Hopkins fights was one thing. Last night was something else.

Cortez said, "I told the boxers in the locker room that if they hit on the back of the head, they would lose points or be DQ'd."

If that was the case, then why go and discuss what you're going to do with five or six other people outside the ring, with Lorenzo just laying in the corner of the ring bleeding and dazed? He was speaking for a good five minutes before making his decision and now he's just trying to cover his arse.

I doubt he'll ever referee a World Title fight again.

the controversy is that floyd ko'd hatton when cortez should've clearly blocked the punch for hatton and he didn't. he actually let mayweather punch hatton while he was coming in for the hug. what kind of a referee does that? that was some clear bias.

LOL..I couldnt agree more, I mean everybody is talking about the Mayweather/Hatton fight like it was controversial when it was..."He didnt let hatton fight is fight".....I have asked so many times what was Hatton fight that cortez didnt allow him to fight against mayweather..Is it the Hold..hit..hug..cling..hit fighting style or what?

Well tecnically he did hit Lorenzo when he was down. Whether the contact was minimal or not he hit him while he was down. By rule it's illegal. The only problem I have is that it took him more than 5 minutes to make the decision.

We will not see it reversed, but here is hoping that Soto's camp files a protest to at least get the decision changed to a No Contest.
