How can anyone think this guy is a compentent referee?

After his performance in the Hatton vs Mayweather fight, he should've been banned from refereeing ever again.

To the people who say "well Mayweather was better and KOed Hatton anyway" - you just dont get it.

Everyone knew Mayweather was the better fighter beforehand and that Hatton would need the night of his life to win. Cortez ****ed up any genuine chance Hatton ever had by constantly breaking them up.

He did exactly the same sorta **** last night. Stepping in WHILST PUNCHES WERE BEING EXCHANGED.

Yet BHop's allowed to do the Waltz with Calzaghe and nothing is done?

Ricky Hatton benefited from corrupt refs his whole career and you still complain with such a decisive outcome?Are you that blind to not see the gulf in class between Mayweather and Hatton?

I always hear people talk about corrupt refs favouring Hatton "over in Europe" but never hear any examples.

Oh except the Tszyu fight where Kostya whacked Hatton in the nuts TWICE before Hatton retaliated.

As for the gulf in class between Hatton and Mayweather, that was obvious to most rational boxing fans BEFORE the fight. Hatton would have to scrap and maul his way to victory and have the night of his life. Having a ref against him made the impossible even less possible.

Joe Cortez was a bad red in Mayweather/Hatton, Calzaghe/Hopkins, and now this... He should be forced to retire since the dip**** won't ever quit

Its not an excuse. Its just what happened.

Most sensible fans - British or otherwise - recognise that even if Cortez favoured Hatton, Ricky would have a massive task beating Mayweather.
