So the Hopkins 1 year ago, who fought his first Southpaw in donkeys years against an out of shape, old Tarver is significantly better than the one 1 year later who was facing his third Southpaw in a row?

      Sorry T-97
No worries Rick. I just think he was able to maintain a higher workrate throughout the Tarver fight and if he had been more able to do so against Calzaghe may have beaten him. My opinion of course, I'm pretty sure you will disagree

it had been two years since Hopkins faced Tarver, two years for a guy Hopkins age who was inactive can have minor or major effects and it showed in the Calzaghe fight.

13 was right when he replied to me, it just shows that he caught Calzaghe off balance with a good shot, if that's all you base it on, then why didn't Hopkins knock him down again or finish the fight?

Joe Calzaghe nuthuggers get to me sometimes. Joe Calzaghe beat a great fighter yes but the guy was 43 years old. 43. Years. Old. A prime B-Hop versus a prime Joe B-Hop beats Joe by late stoppage or by clear UD. A 43 year old knocked down Joe in the first that alone should give you a clear indication as to who would win prime vs prime.

Don't forget, Popkins was much more vulnerable in his prime and his defense was nothing more than average, add Calzaghe's prime power and you would've witnessed a spectacular KO.

Calzaghe beats Popkins in his worst day to be honest. He's just too good for him.
                    i highly disagree.

a prime hopkins would have won that fight. sorry to break it to you.

it was a close (but clear) decision for calzaghe BUT if hopkins were in his prime it would have been the other way around...hopkins would be walking away with the decision.

were talking a 43 year old hopkins...if hopkins with 10 years younger (33 for those who cant do math) he would have owned calzaghe seriously...no joke.

calzaghe didnt look all that impressive of hopkins at 43...at 33 calzaghe would have lost a UD or possibly stopped...(at 43 hopkins drops calzaghe...at 33 he may have forced a stoppage).

                    real talk.

                      Rubbish.

Hopkins was tired because of CALZAGHE pressuring him. He wasn't tired against Tarver because Tarver didn't do ****.
