JMM is a whole other beast the best Counter puncher in the game...he may not have that 1 punch killer but the JMM that fought pacman in the 2nd fight would wipe out pretty much all the lightweights with his counter style.
He is the purest counter fighter as they get.

I know styles make fights but Casamayor almost lost to a pressure fighter named Michael Katsidis... If it weren't for that knockout near the end of the fight Casamayor was close to losing a decision atleast by the official judges scorecards. I think JMM would make Casamayor look ****** and finally put the old man into retirement.Comment

i can't imagine what makes casamayor think he is a legend. he may be a champion but calling himself a legend is idiocy. i know marquez can handle casamayor easily if he will fight toe-to-toe with the old man.
but if marquez rely on his counter-punching ability without initiating an attack, i'm afraid to hear him crying again for another loss.Comment

yo on the real I can't call this one, I thought, at first glance, that Marquez would pull it off but Manny Pacquiao caught and dropped Marquez with shots he didn't see. now I understand Manny Pacquiao punches awkwardly and that may be the cause but don't you think a boxer with such skills and ability like Joel Casamayor would be the one to catch Marquez with punches he wont see if anything? I'm saying Pacquiao for what is worth is a smart brawler to me, to me a brawler is someone who either in round 1 or 10 if he can turn the tide from textbook Boxing to all out fighting he will do it, Pacquiao is that to me. the relevance of what I just said regarding Pacquiao to a fight with Joel Casamayorand Juan Manuel Marquez is that the punches that Manny was able to catch Marquez with off wild swinging punches that Casamayor could catch Marquez just as bad and drop him just as bad with more premeditated, predetermined punches..
Pacquiao is wild while Joel is slick and he can do as much damage as Manny just with less punches and more precision. Pacquiao aims to knock you out while Joel aims to weaken you FOR a knockout. the smarts that play into the equation here doesn't let me choose comfortably a winner because either A Juan Manuel Marquez catches Joel with enough counterpunches to shake him out of him rythym and can apply his own VERY VERY good skills on Joel enough so that he can't find a way around it OR B Joel finds a way around it and neutralizes Marquez with crisp countershots of his own, maybe even stunning him with one of those below the radar shots and dropping Marquez and maybe Joel can keep it even enough to make that flash KD a factor in the scoring like JMM-MP II, who knows?
I will say this though in terms of ability and technical smarts we are seeing just about the most evenly matched fight this year by far, if this happens I will be loving every second because it's Boxing at it's freshest and most purest form. we talking about 2 guys who can Box, both of whom are 2 HIGHLY regarded names of their weights and have been pro's for 10+ years, it spells for a classic.. if you ask me who wins I'd place my money on Juan Manuel Marquez.. why?? I'll tell you, I just think that when it comes to stationary Boxing, not allowing yourself to be hit against a swarm of punches and always being in position to strike back Marquez is more efficient there. Joel moves his head and keeps his hands low, Marquez keeps his hands up using his forearms and slight lateral movement to not only defend but to attack with force.
it boils down to textbook Boxing because both of these fighters have proven time in and time out that they can compete at the maximum level thier respective styles produce for them so in my mind it boils down to who's style you like more. I love the **** out of Joel but thats with my heart, my money however goes with Marquez whose style produces more oppourtunities than risks IMO... call me Crazy but if it isn't a draw I see Marquez winning the closest fight in Boxing for a long time, Joel still has enough in him to take Marquez or anyone else to the gutter.. 100Comment
