Meldrick beat him all fight long and so Chavez knew not to give him a rematch until 10 years later when Taylor was shot! It was the right move! I think the rematch between Chavez and Taylor was never made because Taylor felt he needed to move up to 147 and Chavez felt that 140 was the best weight for him at the time.
