You all talk as though Kelly Pavlik is the incredible terrifying opponent who Joe should be scared of. He isn't, he's a slow, predictable, but hard hitting newish middleweight champion, who just so happens to have the honour of having most US boxing fans aboard his hype train.

Those of you who state so confidently that Calzaghe is ducking Pavlik, and even worse, that Calzaghe needs to "prove himself" by beating Pavlik just embarass me. The only people it would prove anything too are those of you who don't know the first thing about boxing and assume without question that the latest US golden boy is automatically a stern test for the (yes, yes) undefeated, two weight Ring champ Calzaghe. He isn't. I would have thought some of you would have learned your lesson with Jeff Lacy, but no.

Two things about this make me sad. 1) That so called boxing fans are so anti-Calzaghe that they allow a desire to see him lose to cloud everything they say about him, and 2) that these same 'fans' actually know so little about boxing that they pick Kelly Pavlik as the man to beat him, because he's the guy they've seen on TV recently.

If you lot really, really want to see a fight in which there is a chance of Calzaghe losing, I suggest you start clamouring for him to fight Chad Dawson who is a much better boxer then Kelly Pavlik is ever going to be. If you actually know who he is.
Ok... let me ask this... and I don't know the answer to this... WHy was it, that before Pavlik fought Lockett, Calzaghe was talking up a fight with Pavlik and after the fight his dad is saying "IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN"? Seems to be an odd complete reversal... doesn't it? I'm not saying he would lose to Pavlik... I am saying that in his mind RJJ is a lower risk and probably a higher reward.

Second... Chad Dawson? Really? I think Calzaghe would abuse him.

Is Pavlik one-dimensional? maybe. But, although a one-two fighter IS one dimensional.... if he executes properly he is ALSO unstoppable.

I read a great article about joe regarding this subject on ESboxing just yesterday. Im probably only going to use their forums from now on. As much as i love the main boxingscene site, this forum is full of complete morons who are only good for one thing... laughing at

Face it, at present NORTH American boxing is in a sorry state. Perhaps you guys should should start aiming your assaults a little closer to home.

seriously though, i really think some of you guys would be better suited as MMA fans kuz you know *** all about the sweet science.

        Kessler>>Abraham>>Pavlik
Look, I'm not on here picking on European boxing. I will say this though. Your media is far more partial to boxers in your respective countries than ours is. And I'm not saying you don't see that, you probably do. As for "Kessler>>Abraham>>Pavlik" that could certainly be true. I just wish Calzaghe had fought the fights that would make me sure of that. It looks like Abraham will.

You think that beating Gary Lockett is any kind of reason for Calzaghe to be afraid of Pavlik? Okay.

Chad Dawson has faster hands and feet than Calzaghe and is the bigger man. Easily the toughest fight Calzaghe could take.

Cotto fans moaned when Floyd ducked Cotto, why can't we moan when all the evidence points at Calzaghe for doing the same thing.Sure Kelly has no chance but you can not deny that Calzaghe stated a while back,he wanted Pavlik and now he is saying Kelly is not worthy to kiss my welsh ass.

No... I didn't said that. I would find hard to believe, actually... What I actually believe is that Calzaghe never thought Pavlik would fight him... and when Pavlik tried to get the fight he had to back off cuz in his mind the Jones fight presents a better risk/reward.

I just don't want to hear that Calzaghe is fighting Jones because Jones is the BIGGER challenge. That is nonsense.

I'm cool with Calzaghe fighting Dawson instead of Pavlik... as long as he's fighting someone with a pulse... Calzaghe fighting RJJ is a joke.

Another cry baby Pav fan who keeps looking past Abraham, and straight to 40Cal.
You call him out, go to 175, don't ask for catch weight. Abraham wants a fight. He said your name. He wants Dlh too because Sturm was robbed in that fight. Fight Abraham with your tall bumper head!

Why is Pavlick at 26 years of age going after Old Man Calzaghe anyway! Calzaghe wins handsdown and I wouldnt be surprised if this fight happens even though Joe says he's only got one fight left. Pavlick should have been after this fight when Joe had just defeated Lacy he was obviously ducking Joe by staying at middleweight instead of moving up a division.

How about Kessler Vs Pavlick with the winner getting Calzaghe in his final match in the Millenium stadium with joe fighting Jones somewhere in Vegas as a tune up.
Kessler beats Pavlick by the way

He didn't say that at all. He answered av calling him out. You call a man out, don't ask for a catch weight. Sugar called hagler out, and went to 160. Bob Foster called ali and frazier out, he went to heavy from 175. Don't ask a 36 year old man to come down in weight. Fight him at his weight.
