Saying that though, I think Khan showed good heart. He does panic when he gets in trouble, but experience will help him with that.

He's not ready for the top tier fighters in his division, but he's still young.
I pray to god he doesn't pair up with McGirt.

Can you imagine what Khan v Katsidis would be like? FOTY candidate for sure.

I hope they make that one soon.

It was a flash knockdown, and Gomez hit Khan with a bodyshot but Khan cameback with 15-20 flurries of his own straight away. I agree though he needs to work on his defense.

You could keep doing that for 12 rounds and then tomorrow Gomez would be brain damaged.

Khan hits like a girl, so I doubt it. At one point he landed 20-30 punches, with no answer and didn't even drop him.

Khan took some good shots on the inside and he certainly can punch, Gomez has a solid chin.

Don't be so dramatic. Gomez showed warrior spirit. It was an early stoppage.
Maybe Khan woulda got him but he deserved the chance.

It seemed awfully quick to me.

You could argue that it wasn't a knock down, his glove didn't touch the canvas, but his knees did go.

Damn good fight, but Khan doesn't come out of it too well IMO. Nice handspeed and combos by Amir but again his chin looked questionable and it doesn't look like he enjoys it to the body at all.

Great effort from Gomez though. I didn't think he had a performance like that left in him. He ate a lot of leather in there tonight and kept on fighting. I felt it was an early stoppage though; Gomez took the punches and had recovered but yet again a the ref jumps in, we have very eager officals in the Uk.

I still think Amir has the goods to be a world champ, but after tonight he has got a long way to go.
