Actually, I just contradicted what he said and provided proof that he was wrong, so is the appropriate way to address that situation.

      Oh and ...
"Mayweather rejected an offer of US$8 million to fight Antonio Margarito and split with promoter Bob Arum for the possibility of a superfight with Oscar de la Hoya.[29] De la Hoya, however, postponed his decision until 2007, leaving Mayweather in the awkward position of choosing his next opponent, while deflecting accusations that he had ducked Margarito.[30] Mayweather considered moving up in weight again to fight junior middleweight champion Cory Spinks, but because of negative publicity and Spinks' impending mandatory defense of his title, he finally decided to face WBC and The Ring welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir on November 4, 2006 in Las Vegas."

This is a lie. The bogus offer came before Floyd came to welter. And the amount was 7 mil. Floyd was planning to move up, and margs asked Floyd why he won't fight him. Margs was 147, Floyd 140. Floyd went on to fight Mitchell in his first fight at welter.

I like Haye, but there is no way he should get a shot at Wlad right now, when there are other champions who have worked their way up to a title fight. Same with Margs at the time.
He deserved a shot, but floyd didn't have to fight him in his WW debut. Margs was unpopluar and a wbo champ. Arum tried to push that offer to the public and then floyd and his people, and Arum told Margs to ask him why he won't fight him. This was planned by Arum to make floyd look bad because he was leaving Arum.

People conviniently forget this about Floyd though. Like the fact that he called out De La Hoya when he was in his prime, the fact that he called out Naseem Hamed when he was still worth something. People just love to hate him for his self confidence, the hatred goes too far when people start knocking his acomplishments.

Mayweather would dust Cotto in anycase, I don't know why people feel this match will summarise Mayweather, it's because they hope he will lose so they can say ''Hahah he fought someone on a high level and lost'', if Mayweather beat 7 shades of blue into Cotto people wouldn't think any different of Floyd they would just say he needs to fight someone else.

Thing is Margs was the champ for a while at welter, so I don't know what you want to call deserving. He defended it a bunch of times, yeah some of em were stiffs but he was the legit champ.

It was a weird time though. Floyd had fought only once in 2004 and Mosley declined the Margarito fight.

He is not the best Welterweight, to be honest I see most of it as the general ''hype up the fighter about to get his ass whooped by Floyd''. Hatton was supposed to do things in his match against Floyd, he was by some candidate for the best PfP boxer......... yeah.

I am not knocking Cotto's skills, I think he is a decent boxer, I just think he is too rigid and predictable for Floyd. I don't see what the match would do for Floyd either, he would more than likely beat Cotto with moderate ease people would still say that he needs to beat someone else to prove himself.

I personally think back then Cotto and crew wanted nothing to do with Floyd at all.
Margs did, Cotto in no way shape or form did.
That's the way it went down.
It's different now, but that's how it was then.

Just wondering because there are a lot of Floyd hate going on here. Why does Cotto get a free pass by turning down a Mayweather fight? But Floyd has been talking about retirement for a few years, retires, and they call him a *****. I swear, hypocrites at their best.
Let me end this garbage of a thread. Here you go!!
