The thing is boxing needs to promote itself better, the thing about UFC and all that is that it's promoted in many different ways and is more a barbaric sport, I explain myself, How did Kimbo gain fame? Youtube, That video of him beating the **** of another guy in a backyard is one of the most watched videos in youtube. That's why many people know Kimbo and like UFC because it's kind of barbaric. Casual fans don't understand the point of boxing because all they want to see are knockouts and think that boxing is all about knockouts instead of getting into the fight and understanding the point of boxing.

they purchase all the big ppv's and help contribute to the money flow (in a major way) which brings us good fights in the end.
Without casual fans boxing WOULD be in trouble...i dont think boxing is currently in trouble i just think they need to go back to free tv...that would help everything out.

Those Days are over...
Fighters dont need boxing to become a famous fighter ANYMORE and niether does the CASUAL FAN...
When there is MMA, WWE, ELITE, CAGE, AND NOW STREET FIGHTING....
Boxing never before had competition like this before..Now its does ...
and you can see it when
More people know Chuck Liddel then Miguel Cotto and Margarito Combined
More People Know Kimbo Slice then Miguel Cotto and Margarito Combined
That's the Problem WITH BOXING RIGHT NOW...It needs well known Fighters like Mayweather and De La Hoya fighting each other...To keep Boxing in the Mainstream....because without them...or somebody coming up just like them...
Boxing is in serious Jeopardy to be Replace in the spotlight by these other sports....
Just ask the causal fan who they recognized more Chuck Lidell and Kimbo Slice or Miguel Cotto and Joe Calzaghe...
Boxing Needs the Casual Fans.
Therefore Boxing Needed the De la Hoya vs. Mayweather fight

Well I'll compare them. They are the two most popular fighters and headliners in American MMA. See? That was ****ing easy. They are both strikers that have weak to sub par ground games ( Chack never developed his other than TD defense). Chack and Kimbo are both sub par technique strikers with a lot of power.
Oh and Chack is very jealous of Kimbo since he has issued several call outs about him.
So my question is: Don't you ever shut the **** up ? Instead of being insulting to some other guy, I'd posit that once again you don't know **** and you're talking out of your ass.
Thanks for playing. Now go make another thread about how we hurt your feelings all the time.

If I was you I would kind of worry about it too.
I think probably what MMA does well that boxing does not is market itself to the white wannabe hip-hop crowd and metal crowd. From what I've seen it appears to be positioned kind of like skateboarding and extreme sports are: as "cool". Boxing I think sees and promotes itself very much more as a "sport", and I think also that it is actually not so easy to appreciate for these type of kids because it requires some degree of knowledge to be appreciated properly and does not offer the instant gratification hit of violence that MMA does, and that what these kids are looking for.
However, boxing has been around for a much longer time and has a huge history and tradition to back it up. 20 years from now, unless the world has gone crazy, the general public will still know the names "Roy Jones" and "Floyd Mayweather" but I would be very surprised if many people at all will recall "Kimbo Slice" and "Chuck Liddell", because their names will not be part of a richly remembered history in the same way that the greatest boxers names are.
