  • Why Dont the HARDCORE fans Appreciate the CASUAL Fans...???

The problem is with you so called HARDCORE fans, is that you dont Appreciate
    The casual Fans

It used to be that people who love fighting...

    Would become Boxers....or watch boxing

Therefore The Sport of boxing would always have a continue flow of willing fighters....and Casual Fans

    Those Days are over...

Fighters dont need boxing to become a famous fighter ANYMORE and niether does the CASUAL FAN...

When there is MMA, WWE, ELITE, CAGE, AND NOW STREET FIGHTING....

Boxing never before had competition like this before..Now its does ...
and you can see it when

More people know Chuck Liddel then Miguel Cotto and Margarito Combined
More People Know Kimbo Slice then Miguel Cotto and Margarito Combined

That's the Problem WITH BOXING RIGHT NOW...It needs well known Fighters like Mayweather and De La Hoya fighting each other...To keep Boxing in the Mainstream....because without them...or somebody coming up just like them...

Boxing is in serious Jeopardy to be Replace in the spotlight by these other sports....

Just ask the causal fan who they recognized more Chuck Lidell and Kimbo Slice or Miguel Cotto and Joe Calzaghe...

    Boxing Needs the Casual Fans.
Therefore Boxing Needed the De la Hoya vs. Mayweather fight

We do realize the importance of the "casual fan". Problem is, the "casual fan" hardly knows anything about the sport. Therefore, if left up to them, we would have meaningless match after meaningless match. All they know is Oscar delahoya and Mike Tyson. Not all, but most.

I kinda Agree with what you saying....but i think Casual Fans want to see the good fights just like the Hardcore one's do too..

Let me ask you a question...What do you think keeps the sport alive..?

LOL @ WhoreIs making another ****** assumption based on no truth what so ever..
We do appreciate the casual fan but that doesn't mean we need them to enjoy fights.

You dont see the problem..., The casual fan does not know these fighters..

You are right, You dont need Casual Fans to enjoy fights... But without the Casual Fans those fights can not really help boxing....

The hardcore fans might not have like it but so what...the hardcore fans is not what drives the sports to the heights that MEGA FIGHTS needs...

              the causal fANS do....

I've always said I respect MMA fighters for what they do, but I just can't get into that ****, or any other sport the way I do boxing. Real fight fans appreciate each other regardless out of love for the sport. But casual fans don't care as much about the sport as a whole or the fights as they do the name fighters. Don't matter if a fight is guaranteed to be a good one that's meaningful to the sport or whatever division it's in, if it don't involve a household name, casual fans don't give a ****. Like anotha poster said, it's gotta be DLH or Tyson or some guy everybody in the world knows for them to be interested. That's why die hard fight fans don't always consider casual fans "part of the family" so to say.

Casual fans can be attracted by better promotions and marketing.
In the old days Hagler and Hearns were on CBS Football on Sunday watched by millions, and their pictures were on the front page of sports pages and given a lot of play.
Nowadays, things are diluted. 24/7 type stuff is a step in the right direction but we still need more avenues through digital media and even print to get the word out that there's great fights out there.

I saw Kimbo Slice on the front page of Yahoo and was thinking why can't they keep boxing in the limelight like that.

Whats funny is while DLH is probably the biggest name out there right now we all seen that just because he is a big name doesnt mean your going to get your money's worth. I was mad at myself for buying his fight against FMJ, was a complete bore.

Some of the best fights I've ever seen have been between two fairly unknown guys on wed or friday night fights.

I think a lot of the bigger MMA fans enjoy the drama just as much as they do the fighting. You know, they got their reality shows where they are all staying in the same house arguing and stuff. I'm not like that.

I dont want to see trash talking or name calling. I just want to see two guys put up a good fight and respect each other in the end.
