Dude I never said he is the greatest, but you said he is not linear at 135, thanks alone messes your whole arguement for "passing on some boxing knowledge" lol. He cleaned up 130, but he was the man at 135 for beating the man (castillo, twice) and defended 4 times there. He also beat the linear champ at 147 (yes say whatever you like, wont change the fact he did beat the man at 147 who beat judah and gatti. not exactly floyd's fault baldomir upset judah to win the linear title, not exaclt floyd's fault he defended it by stopping gatti.
Who's higher on your ATG list, Mayweather or Whitaker?

And yeah...boxing knowledge. because there's no doubt in my mind that the only time you watched Buddy McGirt in the ring is when he wore that dejected look on his face - and that's been happening a lot since he became a TRAINER.
So yeah...listen to what he's saying. And don't argue if you don't know the fighters he's speaking of. Go check it out yourself and then come back.Last edited by IMDAZED; 06-16-2008, 11:00 PM.Comment

Mayweather only defended 3 times. Castillo, Sosa, and Ndou. Not bad, but compare that too:
-Jose Luis Rameriz
-Greg Haugen
-Azumah Nelson
-Freddie Pendleton
-Roger Mayweather
-Jorge Paez
-Policarpio Diaz
-Juan Narizo
-Anthony Jones (not to impressive, but if we count Sosa...)
I'm not into linear titles. I'm into who beats who. Cuz anyone can hold a linear title - ****, Carlos Baldomir held one and he wasn't close to being a top welter. This is a guy who won a disqualification against Clottey when he was getting his a** kicked, and got lucky when hot and cold Zab put in a cold performance. We saw how terrible Baldomir really was when old-a** Vernon Forrest beat him up last year.
Old-ass Vernon Forrest looked great against Baldomir. Baldomir just didn't have the fire that he did against Judah and Gatti.Last edited by warp1432; 06-16-2008, 11:01 PM.Comment

No it's not. It's not even an excuse unless it's DRASTICALLY different (not moving up 1 weight class from the class you are at). Like Pacquiao moving up to fight De La Hoya. That would be an excuse because that is a HUGE size difference.
It's defineitly a lot closer, I think I would have Pea at the top just because he was making a lot of title defenses and Pea's win over Chavez and Nelson are better then even Cotto.
I'm not saying Mayweather doesn't have a bad resume (He has a fantastic one), just when it compares to Whitaker, I think you have to place Whitaker over him. Even if it's just 1 spot.
hell if he beat Cotto, Pavlik, Hopkins, Wladimir, Valuev you still would be like:
hmmmm oh its close but ill have 2 give da nod to whitaker.
some people just ask for too much...when the fact is 40-4 pernell whitaker was a great fighter with top wins: nelson, mcgirt, haugen, ramirez. honestly........im speechless here reading this thread, ahh never mind as long as we agree calzaghe is a joke were kool...Comment

Baldomir was a top welterweight. He actually managed to win 4 rounds against Clottey (5 on one card) and he trained his ass off to beat Zab. He was a pretty good Welterweight and proved himself.
Old-ass Vernon Forrest looked great against Baldomir. Baldomir just didn't have the fire that he did against Judah and Gatti.
And yeah, Baldomir trained his ass off against Zab. Unfortunately, Zab's ass spent much of that time in the club. Come on, this is the same Zab who went life and death with ancient Rafael Pineda. Nuff said.
Yeah, washed-up Vernon lit Baldomir up. Zab should've and could've done the same.Comment

Not training for losing a fight is not an excuse, Baldomir's gameplan was actually good and roughed up Judah. Judah made it competitive (because he's Zab), but Baldomir pulled off the upset. He became the Welterweight champion and was a top welter.Comment

He beat Judah, defended it against Gatti, beat Miki Rodruiguez (the guy who is getting a title shot saturday and was a good prospect), technically beat Clottey (eh).
