Mikkel Kessler: "If Joe Calzaghe Won't, I'll Fight Pavlik"

Kessler will win the WBA belt against Sartison. Then a fight in US against the US-known Miranda would be great. Problem: Miranda now is WBA #2, but will he be after a lose to Abraham?. HBO likes Kessler and would love a Miranda or Pavlik fight.Comment

Beatdown? I saw a clear decision for Calzaghe, but nothing approaching a beat down. Of all those guys you mentioned, his stock is higher than any of them outside of Abraham.
Kessler can be favored over any of those guys you mentioned and he's definitely top 3 at 168.Comment

COPENHAGEN--Once upon a time, there was a fabulous Sports Illustrated cover featuring Muhammad Ali and the quote over the photo said: “The future is a mist.”’
Bob Arum did not exactly repeat Ali’s mystical quote Tuesday but the Top Rank top man did tell ******************.com that middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik’s bright future is “wide open.”
Arum had little to say about Joe Calzaghe’s published comments that he prefers to cap his glorious ring career by bringing another legend, Roy Jones, to the UK. Arum and Calzaghe handler Frank Warren were singing a sweet duet about a Calzaghe-Pavlik super bout their harmony went off key with Calzaghe’s stated preference for Jones.
“Everything with Kelly is wide open right now,” Arum said.
The promoter said he was not sure if Pavlik would fight Marco Antonio Rubio on Sept. 27.
“A lot of things are under consideration for Kelly,” Pavlik said.
Among the names Arum mentioned, if Calzaghe sticks to Jones as his next foe, were King Arthur Abraham and Mikkel Kessler. King Abe does his rematch with mouthy Edison Miranda Saturday night on Showtime, the same evening that Kessler fights undefeated Dmitri Sartison here for the vacant WBA super middleweight title.
“We’ll take a look at Abraham for sure,” Arum said. “As for Kessler, Kelly has studied Mikkel and he thinks he is one of the premier ring talents out there today. Kelly would like forward to matching his skills with Mikkel Kessler, no doubt.”.Last edited by jangeorg; 06-18-2008, 01:20 AM.Comment
