Sounds like Kessler is a "real" fighter, win or lose. Calz wants to fight a 40 year old Jones and retire, hard to respect that with one huge payday out there waiting for him. Maybe Joe feels Pavlik could seriously injure him, if so I don't blame him. Money means nothing compared to your well being.

I doubt this fight will happen, but I would love if it did happen.
I dont blame Kessler, but he has been brought up semi-protected.

Why isnt he calling out any other guys in his own division? I dont blame him for going after the big fights, but it would be nice if he fought someone in his weight class instead of fighting bums(or no one at all) while waiting for big fights. I mean, what about Bute?

people overlook Bute, but the fact of the matter is that Bute has been beating former Calzaghe opponents more impressively than Calzaghe did. and due to Kessler's inactivity, I dont think its absurd to make Bute the #1 at Super Middleweight

That was not a beatdown. Did you watch the fight? He was competitive throughout, he just couldn't adapt to Calzaghe's style....not enough experience. And Pavlik would be the PERFECT fight for Kessler. It would bring him further into the American spotlight, give him a shot at another title, and I'm telling you....the fans will go ****ing nuts about this fight. The styles of these two will make one of the best fights you could hope to see in your lifetime. And win or lose, I think both will come away looking better.

It wasn't a beatdown like Lacy but I thought Calzaghe took Kessler to the clinic. I actually think that Kessler showed more in that fight than he had in any of his previous ones and you might even say it was his best performance in pure boxing terms but from R6 onwards Joe was simply too elusive defensively and too aggressive offensively for Kessler to do anything that would change the outcome of the fight.

I think Joe's performance against Kessler was the best of his career by a mile, and it had to be, because Kessler is very good.

I think the Lacy performance was better, with all the hype Lacy had going into the fight and the hand injury preventing Calzaghe from sparring before the fight and then to do what he did - wow!

I thought that one was too easy for Joe. He was more dominant, yes, but the skills he showed against Kessler were different class. Against Lacy he didn't need them! That was an important performance for Joe though, it made the world sit up and take notice and I'm glad it happened. Lacy was the favourite!!!

Bute is the #1 super middleweight. As for Kessler, his whole reputation is built on the fact that he was competitive while losing to Calzaghe.
