jones>calzaghe, in terms of achievements but i think calzaghe will beat him when they fight. but quite frankly the fight means very little
Does anyone else remember when Roy Jones ducked everyone?

Ok, but you see my point, right? Who cares if the poster is European? Most of the anti-Calzaghe threads are by Americans but it's not a big deal. Like you I enjoy fighters from every part of the world (apart from Antartica, they need to pull their socks up a bit) and it seems like people bring nationality into it more than is needed.I am not actually American.
I admit I love Roy, he was a fantastic fighter and definately the most skillful I have ever seen. I am Australian and nationality plays very little part in the fighters I support. I love Puerto ricans, Canadians, Americans, Mexicans, Australians, Europeans, it doesn't matter.
This guy started this post as a Calzaghe fan just trying to throw crap on Roy for no particular reason. That is simply what I was objecting to.
But I know what you mean
Winky had more than one debatable decision go against him in America.
He did lose two decisions abroad, but one was clear-cut. The other(vs Simon) I have not seen since it happened. I think that most people felt that the decision was the right one at the time, but I may be remembering things wrong. I would like to see it again to make sure.Comment

It just seems as though a lot of Joe and Ricky's British-based fans feel the need to come out and try to discredit all of their opponents. I just don't understand it. I guess it's just not how things are done in Australia. When one of our fighters is fighting a big fight you generally hear nothing but praise for the other guy.Ok, but you see my point, right? Actually it means more than you think. This is a legacy type of fight and both guys stand to gain a ton for a victory.
The other light heavyweights are either still on their way up (Dawson, Erdei(shudder), Diaconu or on their way out (Hopkins, Johnson, Tarver)Comment

for roy it means something. for calzaghe it just a name. this doesnt prove that calzaghe could beat a prime roy or anything. i hope both guys go down in history as they should, and joe`s achievements wont be distorted and he doesnt go down as being better than roy jones just because he beat him at 40 years oldComment

I think he is trying to say Roy fought guys like Lucas and destroyed them instead of fighting the best out there. It is trash of course.
Who did he duck? List the fighters.
It is just another example of a European fan with massive insecurities about their own fighters so they try to throw mud at all the American fighters. It's funny because Joe's resume is a disgrace compared to Roy's, a 43 year old B-Hop is probably his crowning glory.
Why do morons like you say the term "Europe" as if you think it's one country? Do you really think that someone from Sweden sees Joe Calzaghe as their nationality and Roy not?Comment

You are correct, I apologise. It is also unfair of me to generalise my comments in the fashion that I did. Most of the posters from the UK and Europe in general are knowledgeable and very good posters. I need to stop letting the few idiots distort my opinion.Comment

Well done on admitting your mistake there, a lot of us let things like that distort our opinions though.Comment
