I put 'i think' at the end as i heard there was proof somewhere. Apperntly, someone sent a link to ree****yaluss (Who is a huge roy fan) and he admitts Roy ducked Joe. As i say, i am not sure of this, which is why i said i think.

You could argue it but Roy had vast amateur experience where Hopkins did not. So he was more experienced as a fighter, however, you could easily argue otherwise.

Who did he duck? List the fighters.

It is just another example of a European fan with massive insecurities about their own fighters so they try to throw mud at all the American fighters. It's funny because Joe's resume is a disgrace compared to Roy's, a 43 year old B-Hop is probably his crowning glory.
And your post is just another example of an American trying to bring nationality into it.

The subject has nothing to do with Calzaghe. If you want to discuss his career then go and pick one of the 1700 other threads on here about it rather than trying to change the subject away from criticism of your beloved Roy Jones.

Roy was on the 1988 Olympic team and should've won gold and was robbed and had been boxing many years at a very high amateur level.
          Hopkins was boxing in prison.
If anything Hopkins was the green fighter and Roy the seasoned one when they fought, and it showed.
Roy controlled that fight from start to finish. Of course Hop got lots better throughout the years.

Ever since Roy was robbed in Korea, he's been unwilling to cross the pond to battle Darius M and Joe C and I can't say I blame him. If it went to a decision over there, he might have losses he shouldn't have had.
I think he carried the wounds from getting robbed in the Olympics a long time throughout his professional career.

Also guys like Winky fought everywhere and had a few suspect decisions against them so Roy was probably thinking he wouldn't let that happen to him.

              I am not actually American.

I admit I love Roy, he was a fantastic fighter and definately the most skillful I have ever seen. I am Australian and nationality plays very little part in the fighters I support. I love Puerto ricans, Canadians, Americans, Mexicans, Australians, Europeans, it doesn't matter.

This guy started this post as a Calzaghe fan just trying to throw crap on Roy for no particular reason. That is simply what I was objecting to.

Yeah thats why i said i thought Hopkins was greener. Roy had much better amateur pedigree than Hopkins, although Hopkins time in prison helped him later with his mentality towards the sport.

Yeah I understand how nationality plays a role in these topics sometimes but it's almost hard sometimes to convince people you like a fighter just for the way he fights, not what flag he's flying under or the color of his skin.

I think some people have gotten past that ****, while other perpetuate ******ity and nationalist chauvinism (which isn't the same thing as national pride)

It is a shame when it is brought up, however, this thread never actually brought it up. Just some of the replies a bit into it.
