Because Hatton turned him down and Pacman is busy, trust me, you cant be thinking that Winky and them were his initial choices. Also read my other post.Comment

Because in some ways its true and some ways it isnt. Cotto at this point is still mostly a puerto rican drawn in new york and he isnt exactly a superstar at this point outside of the sport. PBF and his advisors (Haymon/Ellerbe) likely felt Cotto could become even bigger later on in the year. However, Cotto is the biggest fight in the division that PBF ruled, therefore to me, the money shouldnt have mattered, however im not the one taking the punches, so i cant sit here and tell another fighter what to do, but seriously, PBF should have just ****ing fought him.
On the flipside, De La Hoya could easily play up the Mexican/Puerto Rican rivalry, so for him, the money is big just based on the fact that you have 2 latino fighters from opposing countries squaring off, so for him, its a little easier to market in that regard. You see what im saying?Comment

Hes fighting Cotto to set up a Golden Boy promoted Cotto vs. Mayweather fight...or a Golden Boy promoted Oscar vs. Floyd 2 if he beats Cotto.
