yeah..... so ****ing brave to get into a ring with padded gloves on , headgear if you're sparring or an amateur , with referee and doctors making sure you don't get hurt.
it's a tough way to make a living if you're not one of the superstars but hardly like going to afghanistan or iraq. freaking 12 yr. old kids do it for god's sake. i use to box w/ my friends in the backyard with no headgear on when i was in freaking junior high.

There is a reson why there are not a lot of success stories for those who retire from boxing. Getting hit in the head and body for years and years is not a healthy way to make a living. You should respect the sacrifice professional boxers make.Comment

No rules man! If you've ever boxed as you say you have, then you've obviously failed at it. So how can you call someone that has succeeded a coward when you of all people know what it takes to make it ? Kind of hypocritical isn't it ?Comment

I don't bother with him.

well good for you. job well done.
now what does that have to do with boxing? i don't call boxers cowards. courage plays very little part in boxing at most times.
what's your point? and i did read your freaking long ass post. just don't see any point in it. yes it's ignorant for people that have never boxed to call them cowards and stuff but at the same time don't glorify boxers like their heroes or something. they're athletes playing their sport that is also their job.
long enough for you?Comment

No! I didn't choose to become a professional a boxer, it was to keep fit, in no way did I want to earn money from boxing.
We're all responsible for our own actions, including boxers. These guy's we not forced into becoming boxers, this isn't the Roman Coliseum, it's not like a Nike Chinese trainer factory. Boxing is sport, people choose to do it the same as they choose to leave school early and get a job, the same as they decide not to go to University. It's something they want to do, they enjoy it, some earn millions from it.

So as long as someone has shown courage in one set of circumstances, it means that they've never acted like a coward at any other point of their life?
Because I think Bowe showed courage in his fights with Golota, but he also acted like a coward in refusing to fight Lennox Lewis.Last edited by Clegg; 06-11-2008, 09:49 AM.Comment

every job has their risks. it's a sad story and you symphatize with the victims but this is a sport. it is their job. if they don't want to take the risk then they shouldn't do it.Tell that to the families of:

a clerk at 7/11 making minimum wage can get killed or wounded doing their job. any of us glorify them?
it's wrong for guys who are keyboard warriors to call boxers cowards but at the same time don't act all high and mighty insulting people and calling others cowards yourself. which is what he was doing in long ass rant.Comment
