Pavlik would be more of a challenge for Joe

      This fight has to happen.

Destroying Pavlik will finally help Calzaghe get the respect he craves and rightfully deserves.

im british and although i rate calzaghe as a very good fighter I think he gets blown way out of proportion by many

pavlik has his flaws, however he maximises he strenghts probably better than anyone else in boxing right now.

i'd pick pavlik by stoppage anywhere between 8 and 10

Pavlik doesn't need to be that fast anyway, he throws 80 punches a round. That's the same punch output as Calzaghe, just consistent instead of in quick little flurries.

I know his last opponent wasn't a good gauge to measure him by, but has anyone noticed that Pavlik's crispness and accuracy have gotten better? He doesn't waste much as his shots are loose, but there's still enough power there. He also looks very comfortable at 160. Conversely, Calzaghe would probably hit Pavlik a lot, though doing little to wobble him.

I would rather see Pavlik reign as a middleweight champion instead of weight-hopping, as is the popular thing nowadays. Let him fight Abraham, and let JoeCal fight RJJ as a battle for their era. Both have beaten B-Hop already, so they are the only ones left. Even if Joe lost, would his legacy be tarnished? I don't understand the obsession with eliminating fighters from the GOAT discussions just because they lose once or twice. Same has happened to RJJ, even though he was 35 when he lost.

It's not smart to put Joe up against a young guy who is primed and getting better, though. It's a little late for that.

I agree, it's not fair for Pavlik's entire career to be ruined by the beating he will receive.

Please Bob Arum, make this fight happen. Right know there is noone that can face pavlick and beat him, not even Calzaghe.Pavlick is a bigger puncher and has all of the potential to beat him even K.O him. If bernard put him down in the first round, pavlick can definitly finish him. This guy is good but he is to overrated, a good puncher and boxer can beat this guy, and thats Pavlick!

The same things were said before Lacy, and before Kessler.

I think putting Joe in against Kelly Pavlik is the smartest thing the Calzaghe camp could do right now.

I agree. Pavlik is smart in there and he will find a way to find Joe. He has great physical tools. The way he throws punches, he never loads up, just throws them correctly and never telegraphs them. That negates a speed advantage of any opponent. His timing is great and so is his accuracy. He does not try to take an opponents head off, he just wants to land and his hands are so heavy that they do it for him. You can see the effect he has on opponents faces, it just saps the will right out of them.

If Joe was two years younger, I would give him the advantage. His legs though will not be able to escape Kelly the whole fight and I think at some point Joe will either get stopped on cuts, or be lucky to make it the distance.

Lacy and Kessler are not Pavlik either.

What happen with Calzaghe fighting Roy? I wanted to see this fight, even dough Roy jones is not in his prime I still think he would give Calzaghe hell! But a Pavlik vs Calzaghe would also be a great fight.
