Boxing is NOT dying.

To be honest the only reason boxing survived when the stars left was there was no competition. Now there is MMA it’s a whole new picture. When people say I don’t care if MMA becomes Number one they are ****ing ******ed. Boxing should always be the number one combat sport there is no pride in coming second. If MMA gets better than means more young kids will join MMA and it will in return increase the skill level in MMA while boxing standards drop.

Chad Dawson is nothing special. Cotto is nothing special himself. I thought the heavyweight was the only division that was weak now the picture is completing changing. Boxing as a whole has dropped. We should be worried that MMA got a network deal and boxing didn’t.

MMA is a carnival sport that hasn't yet proven that it is more than a fad. Even if it thrives, it won't kill boxing. The network got the deal because those guys work cheap. Getting a network deal and consistently delivering ratings are two different things.

Stars can easily be made in boxing they have the promotion, money, and platform. If boxing was in danger of dieing I guarantee they would have hundreds of options to boost ratings at a cost of course. For example: pavlik as the white hope, cotto as a undefeated welterweight titleholder, oscar's final fight against cotto (that would be a huge fight probably at the same level as floyds fight).

Cotto vs Oscar won’t be even close to Mayweather vs Oscar. WHY?
Because Mayweather was P4P best and cotto isn’t. If boxing could make a superstar in one day why didn’t they do this for the heavyweight division which carries boxing.
