    Boxing is NOT dying.

I am fed up with all these incoherent knee-jerk reactions.

    Boxing is NOT dying.

People (kball15 cough cough) think boxing is dying because MMA got a network TV deal...

There is a reason why MMA got a network TV deal and not boxing, and it has nothing to do with the health of boxing as a sport.

Simply put, MMA is a cheap sport to broadcast. The fighters get paid next to nothing, and Network gets to keep more of the advertising revenues.

Network deal for boxing is simply not feasible because the fighters demand MUCH MUCH larger purses. The kinds of money that the networks are not willing to pay.

Yes, MMA still remains Boxings ******ed cousin.

Some people claim that here no no stars left with Mayweather's "retirement".

Once again, total bull****. As with every sport, new talent does not emerge until the old talent has disappeared. Boxing has historically gone is cycles. The old superstars retire, the young lions fight for the title, and they eliminate the competition until they themselves are superstars, then they fight each other... and retire... starting the process over again.

The retirement of the Oscars and Floyds, and Winkys and Hopkins of the world makes room for the young fighters to rise up and take their place. The Petersons, and Linares', and Dirrels, and Berto's, and Wards of the worlds.

The future of boxing is brighter than ever.

Cotto and Pavlik are already on the cusps of superstardom. Many MANY young prospects are on the verge of bursting onto the scene.

Yes... boxing is alive. Infact, boxing is thriving...

You understand that the best boxer on the whole entire planet retired in their prime.....

    Boxing needs Floyd Mayweather......

Floyd and Oscar single handedly brought back the sport.

Man that is how it looks its sad...only time boxing gets exposure is when Evander is going broke and called a deadbeat...and floyd jr retires.

they never bump up the other guys when they have a fight.

And what if it does? Am I going to cry about it? Should I kill myself? Will boxing disappear from the face of the earth?

When Ali retired did the sport die?

Did golf survive as a sport after many many years of horrible TV ratings and lack of stars?

No he didn't RJJ is still fighting. And Floyd didn't rescue boxing, at least not outside of America.

I have nothing against MMA and even though I don’t watch it, I hope it does well. But boxing is not dying. Legends in the sport retire and new blood takes their place and become legends in their own right. That is how it has always worked and will continue to do so.

IN addition, I thought Boxing was an international sport? Some people seem to forget that there is land across the oceans, places where people actually live and watch boxing. America isn't the center of the universe! 15,000 British fans traveled to america to watch their beloved star fight and boxing is dead? lmao
