I agree with the post above...boxing is alive, and now that the 2008 oylmpics are here soon there will be more pros and future starts, Olympic Gold medalist Andre Ward needs to get fighting more often too, he can be a future star, Chad Dawson, there's Miguel Cotto and the welterweight division, soon Ricky Hatton is fighting Paulie, boxing is doing good

Boxing has lost bigger stars than Mayweather and thrived. Boxing will always be here. People only see what's out there today and don't realize the next big thing will emerge soon. Boxing history proves this.

Exactly. I hate how people act now that since Floyd retired now the sport is dead. As far as I know he wasn't the only fighter that exists now. MMA maybe the trendy thing now, but the real boxing fans will continue to watch and see great fights. There is no doubt about that.

exactly, everything has it's cycles, i don't think boxing is dying at all but MMA is young fresh and new so the suburban whities are really getting into it... it's like this, u've been ****ing your old wife for years, pumped out a few kiddies, then the young 14 year old babysitter offers her lil ***** to u and of course u're gonna be more into it than the old wife's ***** until the new girl gets all stretched out and has a couple kids. everybody knows u're hittin the babysitter but when the day's done u'll go back to the old wife, it's just that MMA is young, fresh and new like a 14 year old

Too much "two dudes rolling around on the floor" for me in MMA and those sissy ankle holds and ****. Boxing will always be number one in my heart. Plenty of fresh young stars like Dirrell, Berto, Ward, Gamboa, etc to take the place of guys that retire, to make so much fuss.

I think Floyd is an extremely talented boxer that still has a couple of great years left in him, but if he's only going to fight one old Oscar a year, maybe it is time to move on.

What you guys don't understand is, BOxing is no longer in the public eye. How many times do you hear about a boxing match in the news that's not related to PBF or DLH? How many times do you hear you friends who are casual fans say their interested in attending your boxing party? how many people still throw boxing parties!
The sport is no longer as dominant in America, but It isn't dead. Since MMA is usually boring the more experienced and professional the fighters, it will never IMO captivate the public like Boxing.
All boxing needs is a new generation; one like the previous generations that are of quality, that have proper trainers, that have fighters so ambitious they're prepared to die in the ring, when this generation comes, this beautiful sweet science will arise from it's slumber like a phoenix in the ashes and will once again reestablish its place in american sports.

To be honest the only reason boxing survived when the stars left was there was no competition. Now there is MMA it’s a whole new picture. When people say I don’t care if MMA becomes Number one they are ****ing ******ed. Boxing should always be the number one combat sport there is no pride in coming second. If MMA gets better than means more young kids will join MMA and it will in return increase the skill level in MMA while boxing standards drop.

Chad Dawson is nothing special. Cotto is nothing special himself. I thought the heavyweight was the only division that was weak now the picture is completing changing. Boxing as a whole has dropped. We should be worried that MMA got a network deal and boxing didn’t.
