Floyd's retirement is **** for boxing. He was the best boxer on the planet. How could it possibly be good?

If Floyd retires as he is now, then he doesn't deserve top 50.

What is the point of being the best boxer of a generation if you don't have the hunger to fight the best contenders in your weight class. Floyd was never going to fight Cotto or Margarito so maybe it's best he retires.

The answer of course is that he wasn't the "best boxer of the generation". Roy Jones beats him in every way. AND personally I don't think he's any loss.

Yet, I'm sure that he'll be trying to grab headlines from time to time, since an ego like his comes along only once in a generation. THAT claim you can make OK.

Actually, I agree with you 100%.

Floyd is NOT RETIRING. Remember when he "retired" after Larry Merchant made him cry?

Please, this is just a publicity stunt.
                  So put your Kleenex away.

Floyd wants more $$ for the Oscar rematch and he wants bigger PPV numbers.
This is a good way to HYPE A FIGHT.

                  Stop crying.

                  This is a hoax.

                  End of story.

whenever we have something that involves De La Hoya and/or PBF, two words seem to come to the fore: Trickeration and manipulation. I'm sick of it and sick of them they need to retire 4 good!

How is it a good way to hype a fight? He dodges the best competition out there until people start hating him, he talks about money instead of boxing, etc. He deserves nothing above #50 on the all-time p4p list. The one thing the greats above him had was heart, and the come-all attitude.

Maybe he'll try to pull a Leonard or Ali, where he retires for a while, waits for a new champ, and comes out of retirement to miraculously reclaim the throne. Of course, he won't accomplish that feat if Cotto or Margarito are at the top of that heap, so he'll pick another weight class, or an alphabet holder.
