This time there were no tears and there seemed to be a greater sincerity to Mayweather’s words of wanting to leave this sport behind. Floyd said in a statement he released earlier today “It is with a heavy heart that I write you this message today, I have decided to permanently retire from boxing. This decision was not an easy one for me to make, as boxing is all I have done since I was a child.
