the fact that this is even a discussion speaks volumes.

Its the best thing that can happen to the sport. This guy has no heart, and have everyone (including myself) expecting to fight a real welterweight fighter. If he does not have the heart to fight, then its a good thing he retires.Comment

yes i am. if the floyd who was fighting like he had something to prove was the one retiring, id be really sad. THATS the floyd i became of fan of. The floyd thats retiring is the one that said, "**** boxing, **** the fans, **** boxing history, i want money". im not a fan of THAT floyd.
as a matter of fact, when i look back, im only going to try to remember the Floyd who beat Corrales and Castillo, the Floyd who dominated the lower classes. thats the floyd i will remember because i dont care for this new floyd.Comment

I consider myself a fan of boxing as a whole and because its a sport Ive followed my entire life i try to look at everything objectively. Floyd's retirement to me shows more than anything that Floyd's heart was never really in boxing and from the time he rose to the top tier of boxing he has treated it like a business. His attitude has definitely polarized fans of boxing even myself. As much as i love the things he does in the ring a times i am very turned off to him by what he does outside the ring. I don't believe him to be a coward for not wanting to fight and risky opponents. To him its a business so taking a fight that could possibly end your career (Cotto is a beast!!!) just isn't good business. He has made a lot of money has gotten to a point where he can pick and choose who he fights and is able to go out on his own terms. From a business side you have to respect what the man has done with his career, but as a fight fan yeah....thats pretty ****in ****ty of him to leave those fights out there. Cause for me beating the winner of Cotto/Margarito would cement his legacy in my eyesLast edited by RapidFire_Royce; 06-06-2008, 09:58 PM.Comment

Floyd is only retiring cause he wants to call the shots against fighters he faces and he is not made for the part of being a businessman. He probably tried to call the shots vs DLH 2 and they werent having it. He wont due business with arum cause arum wont let him call all the shots. He lets his emotions come in the way of making business decisions hence retiring (again).Comment

Mayweather isn't retiring, you bunch of sorry jackasses.
He's just trying to 'up' his price and hype the boring rematch vs. Oscar.
I guess it's true - there's a sucker born every minute.
All the dolts lamenting his retirement will be the first to buy his PPv.
Just watch.Comment
