that's debatable. he gave hearns the rematch very late. but that could be because he retired shortly and hearns moved up. he took duran months later for smart reasons
ali also gave rematches. to quarry, to cooper, patterson, frazier, norton, never ducked.
the only man that comes to mind that didnt get the rematch is foreman. but that's debatable because there was no hard pressing for rematch on foreman's sideComment

not only did he do that he walked a natural light middleweight down in Kalule and took him out and he walked down a very big punching LHW in Donny Lalonde and finished him off with a tremendous barrage of punchesI admire Leonard for the exact same reasons you do. Him almost outbrawling Duran and trying to walk down Hearns are two of my favourite moments from boxing. The finish against Hearns, also, incredible!
Nothing Ali ever did was quite so impressive for me, but still some great moments, obviously.
when Leonard got his man hurt they did not get off the hook the accuracy of his punching was frighteningComment

neither did muhammad, he lost to frazier it was fine, for every loss he had he wasnt exactly going out of his way complaining.
okay, i didnt dispute that ray wasnt great. maybe i worded it wrong. leonard is one of my favourite fighters, ive seen every available fight of his, as i did with ali.
no match was probably a strong use of words. what i meant was ali faced more dangerous opponents, in fights where he was the underdog, and he came through with greater success than anyone expected
dont forget ali was ray's idol, even if you asked ray who was better he's probably tell you it was muhammadLast edited by Boogie Nights; 06-05-2008, 08:48 PM.Comment

Leonard looked better in his "signature" loss (first fight against Durán) than Ali did in his "signature" loss with Frazier. I'm not going to judge them for their later, "over the hill" losses.neither did muhammad, he lsot to frazier it was fine, for every loss he had he wasnt exactly going out of his way complaining.

Ray faired better against the best fighters of his generation than Ali did wether he rematched them or not is irrelevant IMO cause he beat them 1st time around when they were at their best and when he fought Hagler they were both old/shot fighters and that was 2 divisions out of Leonards natural weight division and he still beat HaglerComment

duran was another one of my favourites, could punch like a bull. i agree leonard looked better in that loss than ali did in his. but let's not forget that ali had only 2 fights after a 3 year lay off to fight smokin joe who's no choir boy
but do you think leonard could take those left hooks over 15 rounds?Comment
