I agree with that. But you won't find many boxers that do. They feel making weight on the same day isn't safe. It isn't, but it's all relative I guess.

didn't hbo say that bernard refused to get weighed again the day of the calzaghe fight so how do you know that bernard didn't gain weight between the fight and the weigh in

Mayweather had the advantage over his opponets at 130 and 135 look back at his fights at this weight and im surprised how big he is at that weight.

Even now, Mayweather trains 24/7 to sustain his weight at welterweight he looks like a welterweight people just confuse shortness or weight.
Floyd doesnt train to stay around 147, he trains because he is addicted to it. Oscar would never get in the HOF if he had started at 147, killer instinct or no killer instinct.

Of course he gained weight, Im talking about between fights, read the thread instead of jumping midway and think you know what youre talking about, nobody is talking about what youre referring to.

it was dangerous for fighters to starve up to the day of the fight.............if a fighter can make weight, there is no gurantee he will have an advantage.......gatti was going to destroy gamache regardless...........paul williams is not trying to gain any advantage.......people said the same thing about cotto..........they said the same thing about baldomir..........about gerald mcclellan.........there is no advantage...........from the outside.............fans who don't box...........see this as an advantage.........boxers don't...............they love to beat up on a bigger guy............floyd loves it...........gamache hated it...............

sorry for the double post, computer is fussing up.
how do you know how much bernard weigh when he is not fighting? if bernard was not a gym rat he wouldn't have been able to sustain that weight like he did. how much did bernard weigh on fight night when he fought calzaghe? i remember hbo said that bernard refused to be weighed the day of the fight, i wonder why?

Dude I boxed when I was little, there is an advantage, for the most part not only are you more than likely going to be taller than the other fighter, but your natural body frame is more than likely bigger since you are bigger than that fighter, everybody dont STARVE themselves to make weight, people are confusing training with STARVING. You can say Gatti would have beaten Gamache regardless but the fact is if he hadnt STARVED himself to make weight they would have never fought anyway therefore can you say Gatti would have always destroyed a natural 147 lber who was decent, no.
