Listen folks. Charley Burley was good, but not that good. Robinson would have beaten him with not too much trouble, especially as a welterweight, when he was at his best.

I brought up the name of Fritzie Ziviv on another thread about Mayweather, and I was almost beaten to death. Yet Fritzie not nearly the top class of Robinson opponents, who won the title by beating Henry Armstrong into the ground, beat Charley Burley at least one, I think twice.

Burley beat Zivic two out of three times, and the one win for Zivic was controversial. To show the respect Zivic and his team had for Burley as a fighter, Zivic's management bought out Burley's contract after their third fight.

I don't see how you say Robinson has an easy time with Burley just because Burley lost one of 3 to Zivic. Robinson had some controversial wins and draws against fighters lesser than Burley. There's limited footage of the two (especially Burley) so you can only really go by what people say about Burley and Robinson's footage at middleweight, or the footage that exists at welterweight which is pretty grainy and crappy.

what? no it hasnt, its only been in demand for the last few months realistically. In 06 when mayweather fought judah it was the hatton/margarito fiasco, then toward 07 everyone couldnt wait for DLH/mayweather, then later in the year when hatton dissed mayweather in his hometown, everyone couldnt wait to see that.

it was only after mosley was defeated, followed by mayweathers KO of hatton that people cared. If you were to ask this question in 06 or 07 everyone and their mama would say cotto wasnt ready because his competition at that point didint reflect a mayweather fight, you people have the shortest memories on the planet i swear.

Mayweather's problem is that he won't even acknowledge that the winner of the Coot/Margarito fight will be the toughest and most demanded fight he can make. And he also tries to make it seem like another fight with De La Hoya is even relevant when it isn't.

He just need to, at the very least, say that after the De La Hoya fight he will take care of business at Welter no matter who the last man standing is. It seems like he favors retirement over a challenge at 147, and legacy wise that would destroy his career that has so much potential to grow.

The other thing is that his statement about being pound for pound and having nothing to prove is way off line, he's coming up on losing that if some of the other top guys keep fighting quality opposition while Mayweather just follows Oscar and the money or remains relatively inactive (one fight a year).

I don't think Mayweather is a joke or a coward but I am having doubts whether he has confidence that he truly is the top dog at 147 where all the action is, and his toughest tests, the way he tosses them aside when the boxing world is clamoring about it is kind of su****ious.

Money wise Floyd is set, he needs to seal his legacy by fighting the best in the game and not try to downplay their importance.
