Mayweather's comments
Here is a perfect example of the problems that persist in boxing today. When the great Ray Robinson fought, the only way to be paid handsomely, was to fight the absolute best of that time. Ray may have taken some down fights in his career, but he wasn't paid well, like he would be when he fought a Jake Lamotta. Mayweather can get away with fighting Baldomir, Gatti, or a Judah, and still make over 5 million for each fight. The only way you can be the best, is to beat the best, and to fight the best. The Welterweight division is so rich in talent, it's scary. Imagine a tournament today in which you took the top 8 welterweights, and made them fight each other, until the final 2. Mayweather, Cotto, Mosely, Margarito, Clottey, Berto, Williams, and Quintana. You would have beautiful boxing, which is what fans want to see. Mayweather is a good fighter, sure, but he wouldn't even make the top 40 all time list. To say Ray Robinson wasn't undefeated, is pure ignorance, because name 1 great fighter who ever retired undefeated, with exception to Marciano. Great Fighters lose because they fight other great fighters. Sooner or later, someone will have a style that you don't match up very well with. Mayweather says fighting comes to easy, that's because his toughest opponent has been a old De La Hoya. Fight Cotto, Williams, Clottey, or Berto and let's see if he stays undefeated. Mayeather is a prime example of a modern day fighter who fights only for the money, and not for the love of the sport. As a fan the solution to this problem, is to boycott the PPV's unless it is the best vs the best. Mayweather vs. Cotto, or Calzaghe vs. Pavlik. Stop buying Pacman vs. Diaz or Mayweather vs. De La hoya II. Hit them in the pockets and they will change.

wouldnt be suprised if roy jones took a couple things from him
As it is, Burley said he didn't blame Robinson and would've done the same. The risk/reward ratio was too high.

Beat Archie Moore badly, fought most of Murderers' Row with favorable splits of fights (although they were all bigger than him, who always fought between 47 and 60). Only man who “owned“ him was Ezzard Charles (you probably know the best 75er ever and HW champion of the world).
Robinson was quoted as saying ”I am too pretty to fight Charley Burley“
No other welter-middle in that era had that kind of record, but no one gave him a shot . go see cyberboxingzone they have a good article and there is a website dedicated to him.
There is a video of him on youtube, very interesting style for the era, you will see some Roy Jonesque moves with more solid fundamentals accompanying them.
Cut the crap for a while, and learn about a wonderful fighter.
Booker beat him badly and contributed to Moore's ulcer problem, which kept him out of the sport for awhile to recover.

All Cotto has to do is get his PPV's up, even Ray Charles can see that.

I brought up the name of Fritzie Ziviv on another thread about Mayweather, and I was almost beaten to death. Yet Fritzie not nearly the top class of Robinson opponents, who won the title by beating Henry Armstrong into the ground, beat Charley Burley at least one, I think twice.
