No-one's buying Floyd's excuses, this isn't about money, it's about protecting Floyd's zero at all costs. Mayweather/Cotto would make stacks on PPV.Comment

Actually I think he's right. Not that Burley could beat him, but that it was reported that Robinson had said that. That doen't mean that he could beat him, or even that Robinson though so. Robinson I'm sure, thought that he could beat ANYONE. It was mentioned in Ring Magazine a couple of timers, I saw it. but that could easily be PR talk. Burley had been beaten by a few.Comment

Charley Burley's record on Boxrec
I've just had a look at Burley's record on Boxrec, as anyone can. I see that he fought Archie Moore only once (maybe twice) and beat him. Archie was a very late bloomer and really didn't get going until he was well over 30. He fought Holman Williams 7 times and both won and lost. He fought Fritzie Zivic 4 times and both won and lost. He lost to Ezzard Charles, and beat Billy Soose in Billy's 11h fight and drew with Georgie Abrams, a really top middleweight. These seem to be most of the top guys he fought who became champions, (except Holman Williams). Of 98 fights in all, he lost 12 and drew 2. Had 50 KO's.
For much of the time he was close to 160 lbs, although he was originally a welterweight. I still say that he was good, but not THAT good. Good enough to beat Mayweather, but certainly not good enought to beat Robinson. Worse fighters got title shots.Comment

Burley was a very high risk fighter and part of the Black Murderers' Row. Hes a great fighter and Robinson is said to have stated 'I'm too pretty to fight Burley'. It would've been a great fight had these two fought.
Also, its funny that some people think the Mayweathers or Toney started the shoulder roll. Robinson, Louis, and as you can see; Burley does it as well. A ton of fighters have been doing it for years and years.Comment
