So to say Cottos win over Torres was bigger means that those people most likely are Cotto fans or as people like to be ignorant, most likely Puerto Ricans will say the Torres win was better.
I agree with this and I'm a Cotto fan. Kermit Cintron was an established prospect with wins over recognized fighters like Reid and Ortiz. He had the KO power and rep and the majority of the boxing public was able to see him fight.

Nobody on this board had a ****ing clue who Torres was before the Cotto fight. He had the gaudy, KO filled record, but it was entirely composed of colombian coffee cans. He proved to be a very tough fighter and a dynamic puncher in the Cotto fight though. Post-Cotto he has beaten very solid competition and he won the vacant WBO title.

Torres may ultimately be a better fighter than Cintron, but at the time Margarito's win over Cintron was a better win.

I would say yes, Cintron was a highly touted prospect and favorite in the fight.
