But despite that, his refusal to fight his top challenger minimizes his claim to bein the best. You can't just win the title then stop defendin it and still be considered the man. Unbiased eyes see the Cotto v Marg winner as the best WW until Floyd fights and defeats him.
    plain and basic common sense.

Can't agree. I don't think Margarito's opponents have been the same class as Cotto's, and I've seen nearly all of both their fights. Marg's haven't been bums by any stretch though, and it will be a tough fight for both of them.

if you really want to be honest, all of them have not fought the best........they beat guys they were supposed to beat...........the big 3 have not faced each other yet.........that starts in july...........and goes on and on.......some say the best welter will be crowned after cotto-margs..........lol.....no it won't..........i need more from quintana, 36 year old shane is old, but still an ok fighter.............clottey has to step his game up since he hasn't beaten anyone with a name, but has been in competitive fights...........urkal and gomez........well you know........baldy and judah.....were lineal champs who held the crowns.......williams has to prove himself........we keep arguing about who fought the best welters............none of them have........we can nit pick all night long...........

Kind of true, there is always room for debate, of course. There isn't that much difference in their resumes since I don't subscribe to the "no name = no good" school of thought, but I definitely give the edge to Cotto on that score.

I'm still undecided as to who wins they do fight though, I can see ways for both to win, but I am going to decide one day soon. I wish Cotto had fought Williams and Marg had fought Quintana, because I think that would make it a bit easier for me!

lol.........hey, at least we aren't arguing..............we have a similiar vision of the welters...........you see some floyd, cotto, and margs fans who love their fighter so much, they call the other fans fighters cowards or guys who duck fights........i've been around boxers...............they don't duck fights, and they aren't cowards............that i know...........

Yeah man. I hate the way it usually descends into arguing on here. Welter is a very competitive division, you have Cotto, Marg and Quintana, I think Williams still has a good future and there are lots of other guys not that far away. I've been enjoying watching them a lot recently. If I had to say I was a fan of one I'd say Margarito, but not really too much because I'm from the UK and its not the same as when you've got a fighter from your own country that you like. I admit it!
