There is money and revenue from products and exposure from modern MMA attendances across the globe that are literally shattering boxing.

That's why boxing historians either take two sides.

    1. They realize that Boxing is a classical distinct sport..............and has it's own steady fan base that isn't easily compromised

    or

    2. They become jealous, spiteful and try to demean mixed martial arts.

if you don't like it then don't watch it. what does it matter to you? i don't see why boxing and mma is always put against each other. it's NOT the same thing!!!

mma traces it's roots to vale tudo in brazil which pitted boxers , wrestlers , kickboxers , karate and jiu-jitsu guys in brazil. the reason wrestling is involved predominantly is because it was so effective in that sport.

in a mma fight the mma fighter will win the majority of the time. in a boxing match the boxer will win the majority of the time. just like the bears will beat the lakers in football
I'm not so sure of the outcome of this one, especially if the Bears still use Rex Grossman!

Speed and agile boxers (i.e. of course Floyd Mayweather) would be able to keep a ****** MMA fighter off of them and use their speed.

              Boxers are smart fighters.

MMA fighters are just glorified bar room brawlers..
the reason it seems like most ufc guys are barroom brawlers it's because that's (unfortunately) what the fans like to see.

me personally i watch boxing for striking , i like to watch the groundgame in the ufc. but top ground guys like brazilian jiu-jitsu blackbelts don't become popular in the ufc and therefore don't get that many fights.

guys like kimbo slice and tank abbott that are unskilled gets fights while proficient bjj black belts don't.

great boxers will never fight in the ufc. it's not worth their time. the money is in boxing. just like judokas would be great in the ufc but they don't join because in france and japan they make so much money just in judo competitions that the ufc and pride wasn't worth it.

every streetfight starts off with punching so boxers would have an advantage but what happens is in the first few seconds it becomes clear who is the better puncher/striker and the guy losing we'll grab the other person. now if he doesn't know what he's doing it wouldn't matter because the other person will just keep punching him. but if the guy is a technically proficient wrestler it makes a big difference.

try rolling on the mat with a much more proficient wrestler and you'll realize it. technique in wrestling , just like in boxing , can offset size.
true, but we just don't want to see these guys wrestle.........they even try to say MMA is like real fighting or the closest thing to real fighting, yet they have rules..............there are no rules in a street fight..........none........

it's just a difference of taste. i like the wrestling aspect of mma. that's why i prefered pride over the ufc. you just have to be into it to like it. i like judo (what brazilians call jiu-jitsu) and wrestling so i'm into it.

to me i like the all around aspect of mma primarily because the groundgame is so important. if i want a slugfest i'd rather watch boxing where they are more proficient at it.

as far as being a real fight. the ufc was like that. back then the only rules was no eye gouging or fishhooking but the states wouldn't license them that's why they had to abide by close to boxing rules. remember most states govern mma THROUGH THEIR BOXING COMMISSIONS. that's why they instituted all the boxing like rules.
