Mayweather vs. Cotto Just Doesn't Make Sense

Not right now anyway. Floyd is doing everything in his power outside of the ring to try and get boxing back mainstream like it used to be by showcasing himself to a greater audience. No other fighter is trying to appeal to others outside of boxing to try and get the sport back on a wide scale. Business is business and if it makes dollars it makes sense and July 26th will show many that a Cotto fight just doesn't make sense right now. 500,000 buys may be a bit much for these two but with the promotion coming up soon maybe 400,000 is not out of range, but it won't do that much, it will have to claw and grab at 300,000 because only die-hards know who these two are and its a shame because I won't to see Floyd fight Cotto as soon as possible.

Everyone can see Floyd is straight up ducking Cotto, yet his fanboys come up with new and elaborate stories as to why he shouldn't fight him.

Let me ask you a question:

Isn't the best fighting the best in exciting matchups the easiest way of gaining exposure for boxing?

      I rest my case.

I don't see how a Cotto/Mayweather doesn't make sense. Floyd's a big name shouldn't that be enough to attract fans to watch a fight with Cotto?

The best two undefeated welterweight champions fighting each other makes nothing but sense. Any argument contradicting that is nonsense.

Again posters who either dont or cant read missed the entire first sentence. I said right now it doesnt and obviously the Mayweather Brand agrees with me, putting up one of the worst performances on HBO in his last fight doesnt help his case, if he wants to fight the best at least bring some fans with you. All these people claim to be backing Cotto but dont tune in to watch him, hmm.

Everyday that passes the fight only gets bigger to me and means more, by December the calls for the fight will be huge, HBO knows this is the biggest fight they do polls all the time it crushes everything. It is purely business though why it shouldn't happean right now and if they were fighting right now its not like it wouldn't be big but sometimes things can be better then big. I just do not think it is fully ripe yet.

All Im saying, but its those who really only care about themselves who would rather see it right now than wait when it will bring more and more fans to the sport. The longer till they fight the more fans jump on board, Floyd knows this, thats why he is waiting.

It depends on whether you are a supporter of "brand Mayweather" or a supporter of boxing. It is nonsense to suggest that the two consensus best fighters in the division fighting does not make sense.

It makes plenty of sense, it just doesn't mean the most business sense at the moment, so we have to wait.

If Mayweather wanted to fight Cotto, we might have ended up having Cotto-DLH anyway. DLH and Schaefer said they would look Cotto's way if negotiations with Mayweather fell thru. It could've of course been leverage for more money in the PBF negotations, but I don't see DLH fearing Cotto and not wanting to fight him. Like Ray Leonard said, "I'm only scared of not getting paid enough".

Whom do you think Arum would rather put Cotto in there with? DLH or Mayweather.

                    It's an easy pick.
