Great point man I also thought the same. But in the end when u lose it hits u harder. Putting that much pressure on urself will be like taking steroids. No wonder he is that great lol

Watch the doco called " Bright lights Dark Shadows " and learn what Sugar Ray was really like .

His numbers of fights over his career was made up mostly of bums , many had as many losses as they had wins some had more , if you took away the bull**** contests which were a weekly circus show fighting nobodys and wrote down just the real meaningful fights in Rays career you have a career much like Floyds except in higher divisions as Ray was nearly 6ft and over all bigger than Floyd in all departments .

Im not knocking Robinson as he was a great fighter but when people start talking out their ass it gets a bit hard to take , a fighter could not have over 150 fights without the majority being nothing fights against nothing opponents , Ray had about 40 real fights over all which is about average for top fighters , how many Gomez's could Cotto fight and how often , Floyd could fight and beat Gatti's once a mth for years , how many Margos can Cotto fight in a year , I will tell you 1 or 2 ,,,, boxing is about classes and when a fight is a war in top class or a gimme against a dud , its all relative when looking at the big picture of career .
Yes but u wouldn't be talking out ur ass if u said SRR would U.D Mayweather at 147 with his pretty jab and DESTRUCTIVE left hook.

Classless statement about SRR. Robinson was 131-2-1-1 before challenging Joey Maxim for the Light Heavyweight Title (we all know the story) and subsequently retiring for several years. This stretch spanned as many weight classes as Floyd boists about. Floyd doesn't even have one-third this number of fights.

I'm a big fan of Floyd in the ring, but outside it lately the trash talking has gone beyond reason. We can all understand hyping fights and making yourself the villain for the sake of promotion, but there is no need for it right now. Floyd cannot possibly justify the DLH rematch in boxing terms, so he backlashes against the fans and the media in a ridiculous manner. We all know he feels like he gets no respect which led him ever deeper into this character he has created, but this is not the way to deal with the response to this fight. I'd have more respect for him if he just said he was doing it for the money alone rather than trying to justify the decision. Ironically I believe the solution to his "no respect" grudge would be to simply take one or two more significant fights at welterweight. With his exposure at its peak, if he were to cap off his career with two or three more big wins he would likely have the respect he so craves from everyone who follows boxing, both hardcore and casually. Drop the act Floyd, before you yourself completely fall into it for real.

No fighter deserves to be considered the best with less than 40 fights against mediocre oposition. The only real wins on Mayweathers resume' are Hatton, Judah , Corrales, Oscar and Castillo. In that order. There are alot of fighters out there who have recently fought the better competition to get the fitst right to be considered the best. Lennox Lewis is one example. He continually fought the best in the class no matter what. I am not sayinf he is better, just that he deserves to be in the running more so than Floyd. Now, dont get me wrong: PBF is brilliant , but I cannot rank him even as high as Shane Mosley in terms of all time. Take Roy Jones Jr. for another example. He really didnt lose until his 50th fight on a stunning one punch that he didnt see. Roy always fought the best in the division.(excluding Michaelzewski, who he would have imbarrased anyway) I can gaurantee that Floyd would not make it to 50 wins against the best in or around his division. Period.

As good as Mayweather is he actually has overachieved. In reality he is not big enough for Welterweight yet he has won the linear welterweight title. He has acheived P4P status so I can see why he is only taking big fights. i don't necessarily agree but as a little man he does not need to fight all the top contenders in a weight class he doesn't belong in. It's a smart move to wait and let the true #1 emerge and fight him.

Number of fights got nothing to do with it , 90% of Rays opponents were cans and he beat them weekly any top fighter today can do it but today its different and the conditions are different the pay is different its all different , the commissions of today wouldnt allow a fighter like Ray to fight somebody with 30 losses and Ray fought plenty of them , Ray only had about 40 meaningful fights in his whole career , you make a big point of the number of fights I think that is irrelevant , who you fight and when you fight them is what matters , beating cans weekly just means less gym time , Floyds statement is not classless from his point of view and he has a right to put himself wherever he likes untill somebody beats him winners are grinners , who really knows he might very well be the best ever , something we will never know unless of course he gets rolled , untill then we dont know where his high water mark is .
