I've done well to read all the way down to this post without saying anything. However, you like many others know nothing about BOXING. There is no way on God's green earth you have EVER boxed competitively before! How can you say Floyd's chin hasn't been tested when he's been in damn near 40 fights. That has to be the moronic statement I've heard so far. This is the same guy that destroyed Diego Corrales when both were in their prime and Diego was VERY dangerous! Almost everyone on here myself included consider Diego to have been a warrior! The fans in the UK LOVE Ricky Hatton so damn much they wrote a song about his ass and he destroyed him in his prime. Yet you call Floyd a coward? All of you so called REAL FIGHT FANS that talk trash about Floyd's heart and courage are keyboard bitches with no common sense or ability to fight . How can you say a man who fights world class fighters for a living has no heart? Not to mention fights people who would kick any of your asses with ease and yet he has no heart? The above reader stated that Floyd just dances around the ring and plays it safe???? I almost got fired for laughing so hard at this lunacy. Have you ever been in a fight? Did you intentionally try to get hit? Ok let allow me to enlighten you. Fighters that stand there and brawl have no other choice but to that . That is because they lack the skill to do otherwise. You tell me if you had the reflexes to avoid damn near every punch a fighter throws at you , you wouldn't do that? Also, You have to remember Sugar Ray Leonard was bigger than Floyd even though they both fought at welterweight. I saw Floyd two years ago in Detroit and he's really tiny! He walks around at about 150 or 155. He could campaign at 135 with ease. So saying that Sugar Ray Leonard would've stopped Baldomir isn't really saying much since Ray was a bigger puncher anyway. Finally, Like many of the posters on here has stated. Don't worry about Floyd and what he's doing when we have a GREAT fight coming up with Cotto\Margarito. Floyd is using your emotions against you. You don't think he knows that many of the dire fight fans will boycott his fight with DLH ? He knows you will pay in droves to see Cotto kick his ass and that is what he wants. You will put even more money in his pocket that ever! He's outsmarting all of the other fighers out there and now the fight fans. Floyd loves to be the villian. He for some reason thrives on it. I'd love to see him fight Cotto. It pisses me off that he hasn't fought him yet. Not doing what I want or what any of you want does not all of sudden make him a coward. Fighting is his business just as flipping burgers, mopping floors or whatever you do for a living is your business. You calling him a coward because he won't fight who you think he should , would be the same as me going to the grocery story and calling the guy that bags my groceries a ***** because he didn't bag my groceries the way I thought he should.
I competely Agree with this post...!!!

Talk about anything boxing related here. Where the boxing discussion is always Non Stop!

If avoiding punishment were the stuff of "track stars"

why do you find equipment in every boxing gym that improves head
    movement?

Why do fighters wear ankle weights?

    jump rope?

And simulate ducking punches when doing pad workouts?

If I threw something at your head, hopefully you would have the wherewithal to move out of the way. ...

    Or

Would you Stand there get hit, and then throw something Back....?

    Generally Speaking....

I think fighters only resort to fighting flat-footed because they have no choice. and boxers like Mayweather has plenty of options, so he doesnt stand flat footed...., instead he boxes on his toes, just like SRL, SRR, or ali..

    So the question really is....?

Should he take punishment to give punishment...?
    (Like fighters such Margarito)

Are Should he give Punishment and avoid Punishment..?
    (as he is doing now....)

I simply hate it if ppl make such statements without knowing anything, without any respect. I mean if Floyd wouldn't be that good, why would the ppl want him to see fight Cotto??? I know that deep in their heart they love him but still... stop talking BS.

I mean some ppl are so ignorant... about 10 posts already said that SRR was not the greatest human being and also not fought everybody... which is well documented... ask his kids... watch his bio whatever... and then ppl still come out oh he's disrespecting him... If I can remember right, he said... with no disrespect but... and then he made his claim why he thinks is the best. And bottom line is... if you're undefeated in a sport... you have an argument to do so... because nobody beat you.

I never said that he's the greatest. I'm happy that such an athlete is still around these days. In these days where money rules, love dies. Dedication dies. You ain't see real boxers anymore that often like earlier. Where you had to be one to become something. Today it's about marketing etc. Floyd has great skills, has professional attitude to his job (which shows his record). Cotto on the other hand is the same, not as skilled, but skilled and is also a professional. So, it's great that these two met in this time, hopefully.

Floyd was never in a fight? He was in 39 professional fights! Only because your favorite fighters are not skilled enough to make mediocre opposition look like they are mediocre... it doesn't mean that they are good. It only shows you that your favorite fighter maybe is not that good. For example: JCC. He was in many fights. But were his opponents that good??? No... he simply allowed them to come to his level or he slipped to their level. As he fought Whitaker, a real good boxer, real skills... he was schooled badly. And Whitaker would have schooled alsmost every other opponent of JCC too. That's the way it is. Only because Floyd schools his opposition doesn't mean he fight bums. It just shows you, that this man has skillz. It's the same with Roy Jones. Now many ppl give him credit, because he lost, and now you ppl can accept him. But as he was in his prime, as good as unbeatable... you ppl also said he fought bums... he ain't fought bums... he just simply make them look like that.

Some1 like Floyd won't come around in a long time after he's gone. So I appreciate his talents. What he says, I couldn't care less. Do you believe everything what politicians saying. Do you believe everything what Rappers say or whatever. I don't care. As long as he does not become a racist or something like that... I couldn't care less. That's his thing. every man has his life to live and I couldn't care less. I appreciate the sport, the skills that he has, and the dedication that he brings. He never overlooked any1 and that should show you how much respect he has for the sport, the opponent and to his dedication.

Like I said, if you don't have any clue... start studying the game first and then talk.

You can only base your record upon the guys you've fought. Floyd at 130-135 fought the best guys that were available at the time for him. I mean you can't say Castillo and Corrales were sub par opponents. Though the 1st Castillo fight is questionable, he still pulled out a victory and went on to win a second fight with Castillo which was a lot more lob sided, and he made Corrales look out of his league.

The reason Floyd is hated now by so many critics, boxing analysts, etc is because he's put himself on this pedestal after beating Oscar that grants him nothing but big money fights. Now of course, that's totally understandable and well deserved for Floyd.

But where the problem lies is with the decisions he's making now as the self proclaimed "Draw". Once De La Hoya became the draw he still continued to fight the best guys out there. He was the figurehead of the sport as Mayweather is today. But it's obvious Mayweather's camp are choosing the best fights possible for him to look good in. Call it great managing, but most Boxing fans don't see it like that.

I believe if Floyd would fight guys like Mosley, Margarito, or Cotto it would make him that much better and more respected. If you're the draw, then fighting those guys won't be an issue cause the check is gonna be there AND he will get the bigger purse, so really...why doesn't Floyd fight the best if he is the best? It ain't like he's 42 yrs old.
