Like who? Margarito, anyone else?
You're saying he should have passed up on a fight with the biggest star in the sport to fight Margarito in 07?
People complaining about either Floyd or Pac fighting De la hoya are completely ridiculous.Comment

There'd have been no fight otherwise.
And that's not the point.
The boxing fans wanted Mayweather-Cotto. Badly.
Nevertheless, dela Hoya was a fair challenge to take,
and I don't really take Floyd's choice against him.
Who exactly did the boxing public want Pac to face,
when Pac accepted Oscar's challenge?Last edited by horge; 08-04-2011, 03:43 AM.Comment

Martinez has been calling pac out for a while now. Mosley called him out before Cotto.
The obvious answer is that the "calling out" is completely irrelevant.
Pac goes for the fights that makes sense economically. It has nothing to do with him being called out.Comment

No, it was primarily because Oscar called him out.

This is a great read from a few years back. Consider it now in the light of the Pacquiao fight. Manny brings all the things to the table that Ellerbe says a fighter needs to have. He's almost as popular as Floyd in the U.S. and far more so globally. Pacquiao has a captivating style while Mayweather has a captivating personality. Even still, considering all of the financial benefits from a manny fight, fraud doesn't feel like he needs to be told who he is going to fight. He'll fight who he wants, when he wants. And, he isn't interested in boxing nor fans, all he wants is "easy money". There's on PEDs. This guy just doesn't want Manny, nor anyone else, to knock his a$$ out and ruin what he has come to believe is his legacy.Comment
