(Margarito) If Miguel Cotto Win, Is it More Impressive than Paul Williams Win...?

Miguel Cotto will get more credit than Williams because whoever wins in July is in lead for Mayweather. Cotto gets more credit because of all the headlines about Mayweather being scared to fight Cotto/Margarito plus this fight is way bigger than what was Margarito vs Williams.

If Williams and both Cotto win I think this matchup needs to happen if Cotto doesn't get Mayweather.

well, Cotto destroyed Carlos Quintana who beat Williams more emphatically, than Williams beat Margarito. If Cotto DOMINATES Margarito, it would be more impressive than William's win.

I never said this Margarito is better. Its the same Margarito no real difference. Margarito was clearly beat by Williams, but he was not beat up or broken. KO's and beatings are what diminish fighters i.e. Tito/Vargas, Corrales/Castillo.

Margarito had a belt and was going into the Williams fight as a title holder. Margarito is also a defacto title holder going into the Cotto fight. Margarito has lost any skill or acquired any new skills since fighting Williams. Same Margarito.

BTW Paul Williams already made Cotto look good by getting clearly beaten by a guy that Cotto destroyed in 5rds.

Well I already said the one that I hope Cotto beats is more status wise.

Cotto will get more recognition than Williams even thou Williams had his times being called the new "most feared man" before the lost to Quintana.

It's the same Margarito. You have to realize that styles make fights. Margarito generally relies on his size advantage, and against a bigger man like Paul Williams he had to fight outside of his comfort zone.

That said, it actually makes it a tougher fight for Cotto -- and thus he will get more recognition for the win.

As far as status wise? I would say he might even have more status because of the way people were impressed with the way he fought at the end of the PW fight and his second domination of Kermit Cintron.

Time will tell.

Status wise we won't know untill July 26th, but beating Tony won't put Cotto P4P#1. It would most likely and probaly lead to a match vs P4P#1 Floyd Mayweather.
