Certainly the point is whether Mosely knew or not.

My post is entirely about the plausibility and logic of Mosely's response, and how unlikely the assertions of the 2 drug dealers are.

After all, what benefit is it to them to embroil Mosely in the affair. Even assuming that they are truthful-a large assumption- Mosely isn't the kingpin in the affair, merely a user, and unimportant in the scale of any illegal drug hierarchy.

Either spite, or portraying themselves as pawns compared to Mosely-the drug baron...???

Have you not been following the BALCO case? The athletes were given immunity, Mosley was one of those people. Widespread lies by athletes led to somewhat underwhelming sentences for the distributors like Victor Conte. So, the government went after their suppliers and made much more significant seizures.

Now, the government is going back to the athletes who were given immunity for usage (because like you said that's not really that big of a deal) and nailing them over lying to investigators because that actually did hurt the government's case against the distributors.

So, it's not spite or an effort to portray Mosley, Barry Bonds or Marion Jones as drug barons. It's the adverse effect their equivocal testimony had on the government's case against Conte that is coming back to bite them. Think Scooter Libby in the Valerie Plame CIA leak case...that's where Mosley is right now.

I didn't arbitrarily single out Mosley. Mosley is in the news. Mosley tried to brush it under the rug. Hudson and Conte were summoned by the San Francisco DA and ratted out Mosley. Mosley is probably going to be tried just like Trevor Graham, Marion Jones and Barry Bonds. Why else do you think people are talking about this? Every boxing writer in America wants to sweep this under the rug, but they can't. Mosley is not being singled out...he's caught. There's a difference.

Perhaps I didn't make that clear. I wasn't referring to you. It was a generalised comment. Another letter mentioned Oscar's suggestion that both Mosely and Vargas were doping.

Yes, absolutely, and my extra point is that if the coach says it's ILLEGAL, you're not going to do it without absolute proof that it can't be detected and cause you big legal problems.

They were granted immunity from prosecution for usage. That immunity does not cover perjury. No immunity protection ever covers perjury. Jones was charged with perjury and bank fraud. With the wealth of evidence against her, she copped a plea. I could see Mosley doing the same down the line...it wouldn't surprise me. Otherwise, he's almost certainly going to be tried for perjury.

i thought everyone knew this. people were saying this after the fight, and it first became true around the time all that balco stuff came out around 2005. remember he had a different trainer for this fight and he said he got tired early.

Sure we do. We know ALOT about the other five. Especially Victor Conte.

We know that EVERYBODY else that Victor Conte implicated has either confessed or been convicted. Remember when Tim Montgomery was saying he never took anything? And Kelli White? And Marion Jones? Guess what? They have all since confessed. Remember how Jason Giambi confessed?

So, it isn't like it's Boo-Boo The Clown who said that Shane was doping...IT WAS THE GUY RUNNING THE WHOLE FRIGGIN' DOPING OPERATION.

Unless you believe that (of all the possible athletes in the world) Victor Conte chose Shane Mosley to lie about and to make up fake doping calendars and fake blood/drug test results. Even though it is proven that Conte told the truth about everyone else. If that is what you are saying, then this convo is done. You win.
