    Heard it all before.

Mckart was a shot lightweight, no comparison there.

Pavlik is tailor made for Calzaghe.

I don't think Pavlik has the skill to beat Calzaghe to be honest, he can adapt mid round and just take over. Pavlik will have a nightmare

On the basis of your tautological argument, using McKart as your model for Calzaghe, I will gladly take all of your points IF the fight ever comes to fruition!!

How the hell do you compare McKart to Calzaghe?? They are both in their mid thirties and are southpaws, one has lost eight times and is a middleweight. Be serious ffs

Pavlik would be the betting favorite to win. Joe is very vunerable to counters and can be beat if Kelly doesn't freeze up during the wushu flyswatting, but get under it and attack that body instead of the head. Any elite 160 -175lber who can **** out a more active + tweaked version of the Hopkins plan honestly has a chance to win handily imo. You're in denial if you don't think this has merit.

Funny, but he will freeze. He gets confused when he's taking punches. His weakness is his inability to attack and defend at the same time. Kelly will stop throwing and look horrible if Calzaghe in on form.

This isn't a fair fight. Pavlik should fight Abraham, Calzaghe should fight Tarver or Dawson

Edit: nobody else can fight "the Hopkins plan." Hopkins is an expert at staying out of trouble.

Calzaghe will be the favourite in this fight. If there were something like a more active Hopkins, they might beat Joe, but Pavlik isn't it.

has good in ring composure. Add his hunger to win and stamina and I think he's got what it takes to beat Calzaghe.

That said Joe is a special fighter. He doesn't hit you hard with every shot but he had Kessler in trouble, he had Hopkins cheating and ready to quit. You don't do those things unless your punches are doing something.
I'm extremely surprised that you think Pavlik has what it takes to beat Joe. For me his only chance is if his power, which I consider unproven at this point, is too much for Joe to handle, and what are the chances of that? IMO unless Pavlik brings something drastically new to the ring he is going to be a very easy target for Joe, while simultaneously finding Joe very hard to hit. I mean, surely Joe will just step to the side of Kelly's come forward jabbing attack and counter him? Joe is much faster, much more mobile and much more slick than Kelly will ever be, even at 36-37. Add the fact he might very well be the stronger man, given the disparity in weights they've boxed at, and I don't see any cogent, detailed argument for the likelihood of a Kelly win.

I'm sure Kelly will do better than Lacy, but the 'Pavlik wins' argument is reminding me very strongly of the 'Lacy wins' talk before that fight, and seems to be to be founded mostly on a pretty big underestimation of what Joe Calzaghe can actually do.
