the dude is awkward but I know Pavlik will hit him with his work rate. The more he hits him the more Calzaghe will slow down and his evasiveness will begin to vanish

Works the other way as well, if Pavlik keeps trying to hit Calzaghe by using a high work rate, it leaves himself open for shots as well.

Pavlik showed me that he doesnt really have a problem either defensively or offensively with Southpaws and I honestly think he will overwhelm Joe.
Same here bro! I respect Calz fight game but Pavlik, like you said is capable of overwhelming Joe with his relentless pressure! Joe is no Bronco by any means but he could suffer the same fait!

Kind of tough, but I go with Pavlik because of his youth.

Ive only seen 5 Pavlik fights and pretty much all of Joe's but as far as i can tell Calzaghe will murder Kelly - Too quick and too versitile he's also natuarlly the bigger man. Pavlik is good at what he does but what that is, is march in behind a solid 1-2, no head movement or anything special. Hardly something a veteran like Joe Calzaghe will struggle to suss out.
I dont wanna totally discredit Kelly, the guy has power a good chin and a huge heart plus a great mentality but Joe will figure him out in no time IMO

Mikkel Kessler knocked out Southpaw Markus Beyer in 3 rounds and claimed he had no problem fighting southpaws, Calzaghe took away Kesslers great jab by just being faster than him.

I've posted my detailed thoughts on this fight many times, so for now:

Pavlik giving Joe a "serious beating" = ridiculous

You will all be singing Calzaghe's praises after this fight, if you're not too upset that Kelly lost.

Also, if Joe is still anything like the fighter we saw against Kessler and Lacy, I think this one could be much closer to Lacy vs Calzaghe style scenario than some of you guys realise.

I mean, haven't we been here before? Young hard hitting American champ is going to KO Calzaghe? Ring any bells?

Calzaghe isn't naturally bigger than Kelly IMO - Pavlik looks very skinny at 160 and had a big old frame which helps him hit hard in his straight shots. I think he gives Joe serious problems because he jabs well, has a big straight right (bigger than kesslers I believe) and
has good in ring composure. Add his hunger to win and stamina and I think he's got what it takes to beat Calzaghe.

That said Joe is a special fighter. He doesn't hit you hard with every shot but he had Kessler in trouble, he had Hopkins cheating and ready to quit. You don't do those things unless your punches are doing something.
