-Joe has a better jab? Based on what? Jermaine Taylor has one of the best jabs in boxing and Pavlik outjabbed him. So again, another stretch of a claim.

-He's NOT going to push Pavlik back. That's just silly. Calzaghe pushed back Kessler who has a horrible fight game going backwards.

-Questionable chin? Are you serious? He's taken big shots from Miranda and Taylor and didn't go down against Taylor until after taking several flush shots in a row and then got up immediately. Taylor DOES have power, don't get it twisted.

Let's not get too crazy here. I'd pick Calzaghe too but this would not be a walk in the park by any means.
WHAT!? I cannot believe you! I cannot believe that you did'nt mention that Pavlik took Miranda's best punch several times and walked him down and beat the piss out of him. I am a Calzaghe fan but I am on the fence on this one. I say that Joe will NOT , absolutely will NOT have an easy time with Pavlik. Nobody would right now. I don't know anyone who could KO him and I dont know anyone who he cannot KO at any given time*. Pavlik has faced good chinned and well skilled fighters in his last 6 fights and deserves more consideration from you Calzaghe-only fans. I think that Taylor more soundly beat Hopkins both times than Joe did in the fight last month and Pavlik dominated him once and destroyed him in the other fight. Make no bones about this: Taylor has serious KO power. I gaurantee nobody else @ 160lbs. would have taken consecutive punches from him like that and got up to pull off a KO win. I think that Calzaghe-Pavlik would be a toss up and Calzaghe-Jones would be way too tough for Joe. I believe that's the real reason why Joe is looking for another option. Roy Jones is a very bad matchup for Joe. He gives a look that Joe has never seen before and can counter really well even at this twilight stage of his career. I would bet all that I have for Jones to beat Joe with anyone here. Real money is out of the question however. I won't bet on any boxing match unless Mayweather is envolved. JK. I cannot stand Floyd.

    * That is for anyone in or around his weight class. Don't get ****** with that statement.

I will bet all my points on Calzaghe to beat Jones if they fight.

He doesn't appear to have any subtlety in his game, he's not elusive, clever or fast.

He may have a chance against Calzaghe, but only if his power is able to do what nobody else has ever really done, hurt Joe, but that's a big ask for a MW taking on the guy who is champ at BOTH weightclasses above him. I have yet to be convinced that he really does have this incredible power everyone talks about, and to beat Joe he will need it.
I beg to differ sir. Joe was hurt against Byron Mitchell. Yes- he pulled it out, but was clearly buzzed. I do not think he was against Hopkins however. That was more of a push. On the refering to Pavlik as "limited": See my last post for a reason shedding light on the fact that he is not so limited, no matter what a Calzaghe only fan says. he brings better boxing fundamentals than that of Hopkins and more power than Lacy or Kessler, so I have a hard time thinking of that as being limited. Not to mention a world class chin that Taylor and Miranda could not crack. Cirtainly Joe will not be able to stop Pavlik. No way he sits on the ropes and does'nt fire back like Manfredo. I hope i have got my point across.

I actually like Kelly, and I've posted favourably about him in the past. Like I say what he does, he does well. I agree he has decent boxing fundamentals, but to my eyes it just looks like he doesn't have very many of them, its one-two, one-two and that it. If Joe can beat Kessler so one-sidedly I cannot see how Pavlik can beat him, but I am perfectly prepared to be proved wrong by an awesome Kelly performance.

The only thing that I think is absolutely certain is that this one is going to the cards, no way is either guy getting knocked out. In that circumstance, I know who I favour.

If Calzaghe fights like he did against Hopkins I say he loses. Plain and simple. If he turns back the clock like he fought in the Lacy fight, there will be no denying him. But based on the last fight I have to say they are dead even. Just my opinion and I respect yours too. I want Calzaghe to fight Jones though. It does the most for him in the pocket book and its against a dangerous recovering legend. I dont think that if I were Calzaghe, that I would take that risk though. Jones can be unbeatable when properly motivated. I think this would be one of those times. The styles just don't match well for Joe. I think that the only thing Calzaghe does better than Jones is take a punch. Output will have nothing to do with the winner on that night, I promise you. Jones will land more meaningful punches.

Kessler, Lacy and Eubank were KO'ing bigger stronger men. They are also at a higher weight class. Suggesting Pavlik has the same ammount of power is an even bigger claim.

He landed more shots than Hopkins did, and took less. He won the fight also. If that is not outboxed I don't know what is.

You have clearly never seen Joe's jab in a crucial stage of a fight if you are comparing him to Pavlik and Taylor. Kessler, round 9, enjoy.

Yes Joe pushed Kessler back. Isn't Kessler much bigger and stronger (not to be confused with power) than Pavlik though? Just a thought...

Pavlik vs Taylor 1: Second round: Pavlik spends the entire round doing the "funky chicken" after being hit by a man who hasn't KO'd a world class opponent, ever. You're right, his chin is resolute.

I don't think even "******" would excuse a statement like that.

I agree, the man who struggles badly against southpaws will cause big problems for the best southpaw he will have ever faced.

Give up now, there are another 10 or so rediculous claims like these you have made, you're just embarrassing yourself.

Calzaghe won't fight like he did against Hopkins against Kelly, because unlike Hopkins Kelly will not be able to stop Joe from boxing. It will look most like the Kessler fight if I had to guess, but maybe a bit tougher for Joe, given that he's older.

A Prime Jones could maybe be described as 'unbeatable' but he is a long way from that fighter now. The impossible to hit Jones is now an easy target and I think against 2008 Roy, Calzaghe would have an even easier night than against Pavlik. Bottom line for me, Jones is shot.
